We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Dess Renee. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Dess below.
Dess , appreciate you joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I first knew I wanted to become a singer when no matter how I felt I sang a song. I started taking singing seriously at 18 after I won the first audition for Americas Got Talent bug caught strep for the second round. I knew that was my sign to pursue my creative talents.
Dess , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hi Everyone my name is Dess Renee and am an upcoming Recording Artist/ Songwriter. I have been singing all my life and my older brother is a certified engineer/producer, along with my Late grandfather Ernesto Velazquez was a Lead Drummer in his own band.
So being a singer/songwriter allows me to be ale to compose music and actually recite/perform the song or verse exactly how it is written, allowing the artist to hear what I hear. What I believe sets me apart from most songwriters is being able to connect with each of my clients. I build relationships with them as humans not only as an artist that is paying them for them services. This allows me to connect with the artist and really feel what they are feeling in order to compose a track that resonates to each artist and their fans.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
I believe just being able to provide safe opportunities to perform and or just get the recognition we deserve. There’s a lot of underground talent especially where I’m from. Here in Connecticut we have nothing but creatives yet we are stuck providing our own outlets or reaching out to out of state outlets (like such) to allow our voices to be heard. Support could start in our own communities if we’d just put the greed away and extend a helping hand. Statistics show that majority of underground artist excel out of their city/state prior to their hometown, and to me that’s just not right.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
