We recently connected with Desmond Henderson and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Desmond , thanks for joining us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
Saint Claire Photo is named after my late daughter, Maddison—her middle name was Saint Claire. I wanted her name and spirit to live on through my work. She changed my life and helped make way for my second daughter Iris, my rainbow baby. This brand is my way of honoring her every day.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
For those who may not have heard of me before—hi, I’m Desmond Henderson and the proud owner of Saint Claire Photo LLC. My passion lies in merging the worlds of fine art and photography to create work that’s not just visually striking, but deeply meaningful.
Funny enough, this journey started all the way back in second grade. When my teacher asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, I confidently said, “a photographer.” That vision stuck with me, and years later, I picked up a film camera at my local camera store, Biggs—and I haven’t put one down since. From that moment, I fell in love with the process: the light, the shadows, the waiting, the magic of capturing something honest.
What sets my work apart is the intention behind it. I’m not just here to take pictures—I’m here to tell stories. I want my clients to feel seen, heard, and celebrated. My goal is always to create a space where people feel safe and comfortable in their own skin, allowing their true essence to shine through. I aim to capture the beauty of the soul—not just the surface.
Whether I’m working on a conceptual art project or capturing someone’s most cherished moments, my focus is always the same: authenticity, emotion, and connection.
What I’m most proud of is being able to do this work in a way that honors both art and the human spirit.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
First and foremost, The Bible has had a profound impact on me. It’s taught me the importance of process, patience, and humility. In a world that often pushes for quick results, the Bible reminds me that true success is rooted in faith, integrity, and perseverance. It keeps me grounded and helps me lead with purpose rather than ego.
The 48 Laws of Power has also been influential. While I don’t agree with every principle in it, the book opened my eyes to the dynamics of influence, strategy, and awareness in business. It helped me understand how to move smartly, protect my energy, and navigate spaces with both strength and wisdom.
And on a different but equally important note—Dragon Ball Z. As a lifelong fan and a bit of a nerd, DBZ taught me more than just action scenes and power-ups. It showed me the value of grit, vision, and transformation. Watching characters like Goku push beyond their limits—even when they were knocked down or underestimated—reminded me that setbacks are often the doorway to the next level. That mindset has helped me through countless challenges as an entrepreneur.
Together, these influences keep me balanced: spiritually rooted, mentally sharp, and endlessly inspired.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
One of the most defining moments in my journey—and a true test of my resilience—came after the heartbreaking loss of my daughter, Maddison. That pain was unimaginable, and for a long time, I put my camera down. I gave up on a lot, not just photography, but on parts of myself and my passion. It felt like the light had gone out.
But over time, I realized that I had to live for her—live in a way she would be proud of. I began to see that picking up the camera again wasn’t just about creating art; it was about healing. It was about honoring Maddison’s memory and continuing to tell stories, including my own.
That experience taught me that resilience isn’t about always being strong—it’s about finding strength even when you feel broken. And every time I create, every image I capture, I do it with her in mind. She’s the reason I keep going, and the heart behind so much of what I do.
