We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Desiree Mack. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Desiree below.
Desiree, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Has your work ever been misunderstood or mischaracterized?
I feel that as an individual there have been moments I have been understood. I am a complex woman. I do not mean that in a negative manner but quite the opposite. I am woman who wears many hats and sometimes it’s hard for people to manage you and the responsibility that comes with what you do. To some it can come off as intimidating, overbearing, overwhelming but it’s who I am and I enjoy having many roles. What I have taken from it is that you can’t change what God has called you to be and do. The right people will understand. If not, don’t try to make them.

Desiree, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started photography in 2017. It has truly blossomed into a passion that I thoroughly enjoy! To see my work progress over the years is truly breathtaking. Something that sets me apart from other photographers I would say would have to be is genuinely taking the time to get someone to smile. It allows me to help boost someone’s confidence who may be shy or not feeling as confident. It’s my opportunity to tell someone they are beautiful and to embrace their beauty. I am also the founder of The HER experience..
HER stands for Healed, Elevated, and Restored. For years I experienced many traumas, heartbreaks, disappointments that lead me to dark place. Some days I didn’t know if I could survive another day but God has kept me this far. In those seasons I didn’t really understand and felt alone. I want the HER experience to be a safe space for broken women. It’s not easy doing it alone. There may be people who we thought would be there for us that left us etc but we are here to let you know…. You are not alone.
God is with you every step of the way.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
In 2021, I took a leap of faith and relocated to Houston, TX. No family just myself. I would have to say that was one of the most challenging transitions of my life. I knew Texas is where I needed to be for this season. One year later, I am still here thriving better than ever. I have seen my business grow, my connections are becoming larger:. Don’t be afraid to take that leap. Trust God

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is that you get to simply BE. Being a creative there are no limits. What you create is yours. Without permission, you create what you see. It’ has always been a free space for me and a place of therapy.
