We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Desiree Green. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Desiree below.
Desiree, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
I was living the way most Americans live for the day kind of way. I was worried about advancing my career and taking care of my family. My first struggle was when my son, who was 17 years old at the time, was diagnosed with myocarditis. He never had any major medical concerns, so you can imagine its impact on the family and my health. My son eventually needed a heart transplant, and thank God he received a heart transplant. When I thought life was finally returning to normalcy, my mother was diagnosed with cancer. I had my thyroid removed during this time, and my health was declining. My mother passed away, and its impact on my health forced me to seek other ways of healing. I decided to seek help from a health coach, and she introduced me to different ways of eating and viewing life. The health coach helped me learn you can eat all the healthy foods in the world, but if your life is out of balance, you will still be susceptible to sickness and disease.
I learned balance; however, it doesn’t mean everything stays the same, or you will wake up one day, and life will be perfect. We have to work on creating balance every day, and the key is to have the proper tools to help you stay or get back into balance. The tools could be a great support system, healthy eating, learning breathing techniques, yoga, exercise, meditation, prayer, affirmations, or a nice cup of chamomile tea.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m an author, health and nutrition coach, & thyroid disease thriver!
I have had my struggles with health, so I can relate to my clients’ struggles. I did not have the knowledge and support to understand how to manage my thyroid disease and eventually had my thyroid removed. I have learned the power of living a balanced life with food, environment, relationships, and spirituality. It has changed my life, and I do not want anyone to go through the same experience I had.
My company Natural Trinity is built on the foundation of accountability and bio-individuality, which means finding what works best for you! I inspire my clients through one-on-one consultation, nutrition assessments, supplementation, blogs, recipes, meal plans, and workshops. I recently launched a skincare line based on a holistic natural approach to skincare. I am a lover of herbs, and my degree in holistic medicine helped me establish a skincare line that provides renewed radiance and a healthy balance to your skin.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I started appreciating what I had instead of worrying about what I didn’t have and worrying about losing everything. I had spent so much of my life being tuned into the “Lost Channel” ( a channel that reminds you that you can lose everything at any minute and you’re not worthy of what you have) that I never accepted what I had. But I finally decided to tune into “Thankful Channel” (the channel that reminds you to be thankful for everything and open for more thankful blessings). That’s when things began to open up. The thought process opened the door for many opportunities within my market. I now work at the Maryland Psychiatric Research Center as a Clinical Nutritionist Intern providing nutritional services to clients. The option would have never come my way if I doubted myself.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
My company Natural Trinity is based on accountability and bio-individuality, which means finding what works best for you! I do not come with a mapped-out process for better health. We ask the client to change their entire lifestyle, and the process is overwhelming, so I use a small but mighty method. I start with small steps, and they ultimately lead to big rewards.
