Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Desinique Robinson . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Desinique , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
Since a young girl, I’ve always been creative. Weather it’s been within fashion, DIYs, or technology, I’ve just always had that creative touch. I’ve decided to tap into another creative setting and I am a content creator. As stated in our previous interview last year, I spoke about my Graphic Design business. I still have that business but I am also branching off into content creating. I love it! My niche is fashion and beauty. I create outfit ideas, review makeup products and much more.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a 24 year old content creator based in South Carolina! I am obsessed with fashion, beauty and skincare! You may see me on social media wearing a dope outfit, giving a review on a beautiful makeup product or just simply doing a makeup routine. I am also a Vlogger on YouTube where you touch basis with my personal life!
I’ve been a creator all of my life. I never knew that it would eventually lead into content creating. I love this. It gives you the ability to be creative. Its your very own personal style.
So far, I’ve worked and are working with brands such as Estee Lauder, Fresh, Smashbox and even Elements 9.
I want to encourage young women who are in the same industry as me and who are trying to find their way, stay discipline. Stay focused. This will pay off.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
This is a great question since I am rebuilding my social media audience. Now that I am adding Content Creating under my belt, I am literally starting from the BOTTOM! I’ve created new Instagram and TikTok accounts. It takes discipline then consistency. I create a content calendar everyway and post 2-3 times a day. I recommend you to batch content. For example, you have a free day and you record content all day which results in you having multiple videos to create for the week to post consistently. It reduces a lot of stress throughout the week.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Another great question. As stated before, now that I am in the content creating world. I had to unlearn to be busy in that industry. I am building an audience. I am proving myself again. With my Graphic Design business, I’m always busy, always booked, I’ve built a positive reputation for that brand now I am working on building a positive reputation for this brand as well.
