We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Deshaun Diggs. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Deshaun below.
Alright, Deshaun thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you manage your own social media?
When it comes to social media, I manage everything myself. The entire process from ordering, to daily communication is all a one man show. I also make all of my content alone from TikTok videos to Instagram reels.
Deshaun, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Deshaun Diggs and I am the founder of Diggs Designs. Diggs Designs is a clothing brand where I use tapestry blankets and turn them into articles of clothing. I originally got started with my brand during the pandemic back in 2020. I have always been a creative but never knew how to sew. During the pandemic, I taught myself how to sew using YouTube and Google, and the rest has been history.
One major think that I believe sets me apart in the tapestry blanket industry is my ability to make custom collages to get printed onto tapestry blankets and turn them into clothing. A customer can have an exact idea and I can bring that idea to life, and that is honestly the best part for me.
Some of my biggest accomplishments so far with Diggs Designs would have to be completing 4 bulk orders, LAFW, making clothes for YungBBQ, Karlous Miller, and Jazmine Sullivan reposting my work on her Instagram story.
I would like followers to know that when it comes to my brand, I pride myself on authenticity and making the customer happy.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
When it comes to me building my audience on social media the biggest advice I can give is consistency. I started off posting everything I made on TikTok even when I personally might’ve thought it wasn’t worth it. You never know what audience a video might reach and how that particular item could really catch someone else’s eye. I then started putting those same TikTok videos on my Instagram design page using the reels feature and the numbers started to take off. I can now say I have over 14k real Instagram followers and over 11k on TikTok. Consistency is key.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist for me is simply seeing my work on customers and seeing how happy my clothing makes them.
