We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Derrick De-Mond. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Derrick below.
Derrick, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
I guess the most meaningful project that I’ve worked on so far, would “Between The Lies” which I’m currently filming now. I can see this being that because it’s somewhat based on truths. It’s personal to the writer and I’m afforded the privilege to bring this person to life on screen. It’s a character that I think a lot of people will recognize in a friend or relative.
Derrick, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Ok sure… For those who this is their first time hearing about me, I’m an actor, who’s been acting now since 2018. In these past 6 years I’ve filmed nine movies, seven of which I’ve starred in. I first got into acting by chance by responding to my cousin, who at the time I didn’t know was filming his first movie. What was supposed to be a small role, turned into the lead role and as they say “the rest is history”. I’m also a business owner along with my wife, we have a trucking company, tee shirt company and a hospitality business as well.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Honestly it started off as something that I could do that years from now, my kids would look back on and always have their dad. You know, something other than cell phone videos or home movies. However once I got in front of the camera, I remembered how much I loved acting. So I can say that my goal is to one day be able to solely act and my mission is still to leave my kids something that they can be proud of their dad for doing and living out his dreams of doing the best that he could.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an actor for me personally is people appreciating the work that I do. Acting isn’t easy as most people believe or think. Some actors make it look easy but that’s with years of practice and experience. To see the expression on people’s faces while they’re watching you perform is like no other. It’s very rewarding and I don’t take it for granted
