We were lucky to catch up with Deric Johnson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Deric, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s start with a fun one – what’s something you believe that most people in your industry (or in general) disagree with?
I feel that most people disagree with the type of services we offer. We get a lot of pushback for the fact that we are supporters of people’s authenticity in terms of expressing their sensual and sexual side. We don’t believe in faking how our clients want to represent themselves. This includes their way of expressing vulnerability, sexuality, and aspirations. Our clients trust us to properly portray them in a way that shows their credibility to the world in the most beautiful and iconic way possible.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
What we do is allow a safe, creative space for the every day person, local business, and erotic professionals to be themselves in a place free of judgement. Our brand, our mission is to create eye-catching, high quality iconography through boudoir, erotica, and lifestyle imagery. These services include photography and filmmaking with the options to purchase prints, posters, books, and more. What separates our services from other types of media services is that we have dedicated roles between three people. With us being a mobile business, we believe in less is more. This means carrying equipment that is needed for the job as well as delegating key roles within sessions to create the best imagery possible. Our goal is to make sure that you approve, on site, the work that we are creating and blown away by the final product! What we are most proud of is the quality of work that we are able to produce for so many different types of people. Everyone has a story to tell and we help convey the message to the world for all types. This could be that person that wants the boudoir experience to connect to the woman or man through a sensual experience. Or the bright-eyed business owner who wants to tell the story of how their business and products went from idea to the talk of the town. Or the Erotic Professional that excels in the s*x industry and makes a living through working with trusted professionals like us that take her creativity to the next level. We know that we have something special and want to allow everyone the opportunity to become the icon they’ve always wanted to be!
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
What keeps our brand loyalty with our followers and customers is consistency. If there is one thing that I have learned as a young entrepreneur is that its quite difficult to keep people on board with what you do if the message or presentation changes too often. There are times and ways to promote diversity within your brand but I would argue that overall theme of your brand should stay the same. A good example of how we manage this is using social media. Our business is separated, currently, by 3 services. This is Boudoir, Lifestyle, and Erotica. In order to keep our clients on the band wagon that gravitate toward one or all of those services, we like to communicate via social media and encourage they follow different platforms to have access to certain services. This way if they follow our Instagram or our twitter which promote Erotica and Boudoir services they know what to expect and be engaged with what they observe. By utilizing multiple social media platforms and promoting up to two services we are able to not only reach a wider audience but also keep the potential clients on that platform happy through consistent presentation.
How did you build your audience on social media?
The majority of my audience growth is not a result of trendy TikTok dances I’ll tell you that much! Despite marketing strategies moving towards social media video for wide-spread exposure, I chose to blend the two tangible and virtual marketing strategies to drive brand awareness and trust. What I would do is a combination of in-person business introductions and with the goal to get them to follow the business in some capacity. This could be by giving them my physical business card with a QR Code to the all of my digital platforms or have them follow my social media like Instagram through Snapchat, the website, or TikTok to keep the conversation going. Again, both tangible and virtual introductions will echo a consistent message which the prospect was introduced to in person. This message will then be reinforced by stories, content, live videos, or reels on our social media platform with the goal of converting that follower into a customer.
