We were lucky to catch up with Denzel Davis recently and have shared our conversation below.
Denzel , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I knew I wanted to pursue being an artist when I first started writing music I have fell in love with music I always used to listen to music I always used to be intrigued by music my family always to listen to music musicians in my family that play music so that’s how I knew I wanted to do music professionally is once I wrote my first song I fell in love with it

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I got in the music industry as a artist I want to say back in 08 it took me about 8 to 9 years to master my craft and I started taking it serious in 2016 that’s when I had my big first break and I had a buzz in Phoenix Arizona off of a mixtape called February
So a little background about me I’m originally from San Bernardino California. I grew up in San Bernardino California. I had a rough upbringing. It was tough growing up there. We struggled a lot. We faced a lot of adversity and it’s just like any other place in America. It was Poverty so I just wanted to make it out of Poverty And as I was growing up there, it was a lot that I had to overcome and the biggest thing I had to overcome was beating cancer. I have tumor cancer, and I currently recently just beat it five times.
I feel like the things that set me apart from the other artist that’s in the industry is I’m very authentic and the things that I represent I represent motivation I represent inspiration I speak for the people that’s in the struggle I speak for the people that’s going through something in life they can relate to me on many levels, and you can hear it in my music. When you listen to my music I have a lot of music that people can relate to to and be like man I’m when I went through that man I know somebody that’s going through that right now, so I feel like that’s what really set me apart from everybody else I have my own sound I don’t try to sound like nobody and I just speak from the heart
I would say the most the most thing that I am proud of is just being able to overcome all the obstacles that life has thrown my way especially with the cancer and beaten cancer five times because it is not easy battle and cancer. It definitely is not like that’s just one of the things in life like man you don’t know what to expect or how things are gonna go and nine times out of 10 most people don’t even survive it so for me to be able to survive it five times and still be able to chase my goals and still be able to wake up and still be able to be there for my kids yeah that’s probably the most thing that I am proud of.
The main thing for me when it comes to the music industry I’m looking to build my brand and also become a household name and build fans and interact with my fans and have a relationship with my fans and be able to create more opportunities for myself and his music industry, and be able to create more opportunities for people that come from the same situations as me

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Something that illustrates my resilience is me being cancer. I thought it back to back to back to back to back I never gave up, no matter how many times I went under the knife to get it removed no matter how many times my life was on the line, no matter what I was going through in life at that time in that moment, I thought, and I feel like that represents my resilience to be honest like that shows how strong I am how capable I am, and also shows like if you never give up on something you got a dream a goal or whatever and if you stay focused, and you just continue to work hard and fight, you’ll achieve anything in this life

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn this business is to be more open with people and be more social because I am a private person and I am a person that likes to keep to myself, so I kinda had to learn that and kinda get comfortable with it and you just gotta get comfortable with doing things that make you uncomfortable in the more that you do things that make you uncomfortable the better you get at it
So the backstory with that is I had a show and it was like my first show that I ever performed that anything like my first show I perform we do a great job and just getting off the stage and just so many people greeting me and it was just overwhelming cause I’m not used to because I’m always used to being in the shell so Kinda like you know like kinda gave off the vibe like yo don’t touch me type things so it is it just help me learn and just help me get better at dealing with people and being more friendly and not being so reserved and not giving off the vibe like you don’t wanna be messed with or anything like that
