We recently connected with Denym Aphrodyte and have shared our conversation below.
Denym, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you have any thoughts about how to create a more inclusive workplace?
I am a trans non binary artist and although things had been better for our community they have not been great. There’s a lot of discrimination and missed opportunities for creatives in our community to do events because of non inclusive spaces. Such as venues that don’t have a safe gender neutral bathroom to use.

Denym, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I went to college at Augustana in Rock Island IL where I graduated with a degree in communication studies and graphic design. Currently I am a freelance graphic designer and I focus on promotional flyers and logos. My main passion is making art that I sell at pop ups around Denver. You’ll see my work also featured on the windows of Awakening Boutique off of South Broadway. I truly love making art that makes people happy and feel seen.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
As a creative I make a lot of things and I’ve learned not everyone is going to love or like the things I make. I used to take it super personal but have since learned that it’s not sustainable for me to place the worth of what I make on what others think.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Truly I believe supporting other creatives and jumping on all opportunities have really helped me blossom into where I am today. I have really bad social anxiety so it has taken a lot of coaching myself to be more confident in who I am in public. I think the inner work has pushed me to be more visible in the creative community
