We recently connected with Denyelle Loving and have shared our conversation below.
Denyelle , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So, let’s start with trends – what are some of the largest or more impactful trends you are seeing in the industry?
I think trends are fun and cool to see, there’s always something fresh and inspiring happening in the makeup world. But to be completely real, I don’t follow many trends. My goal as a makeup artist is to create a look that’s tailored to *my client*, how they want to feel, how they want to show up, and what makes them feel most beautiful. Not all trends are suitable for every person, and that’s okay. Makeup isn’t one-size-fits-all.
For example, I remember doing makeup for a bride who specifically told me, “Please don’t give me the TikTok blush” or “I don’t want heavy makeup”; I just want to look like the best version of *me*.” That stuck with me and we eventually created something soft, radiant, and timeless, and she truly glowed. That moment reminded me why I do what I do: it’s not about chasing what’s popular, it’s about honoring the person in my chair.
So yes, trends are exciting, but the real magic happens when you listen to your client, see them, and create a look that’s uniquely theirs. That’s where beauty lives. That’s where confidence grows. And that’s the part of this industry I’ll always be most passionate about.

Denyelle , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m a makeup artist, educator, creative entrepreneur, and beauty advocate. My journey into the beauty industry didn’t begin with chasing trends or viral moments; it began with a deep love for helping people feel like the most empowered version of themselves. Makeup has always been more than a brush and palette for me, it’s a tool for connection, confidence, and self-expression.
I got into makeup because I saw how transformative it could be, not just in how someone looks, but in how they carry themselves. There’s something powerful about watching a client go from sitting quietly in your chair to standing tall and glowing with self-assurance after a session. That’s what keeps me going. That’s why I do what I do.
Over the years, I’ve built my brand on the belief that beauty should be personalized. I don’t do cookie-cutter makeup. I create custom, curated looks that are based on my client’s features, personality, comfort level, and the occasion. Whether I’m working with a bride, someone preparing for a red carpet event, a photoshoot, or just celebrating a personal milestone, I meet them where they are and help bring their vision to life.
What sets me apart is that I don’t push trends. I focus on people, and I listen. I ask questions. I want to know how you want to feel, not just how you want to look. And then I design the look around that. I also take pride in educating clients, especially those who may not have felt seen or heard in traditional beauty spaces, so they feel empowered to recreate their glow even after they leave my chair.
Beyond makeup services, I’m expanding into teaching stage and performance makeup through workshops and at the university level, and I’m building a national makeup artist network under my own brand, where artists can be booked for weddings, corporate events, fashion shows, and more. The goal is to create opportunities for other artists while raising the standard of excellence in beauty services across the board.
What I’m most proud of is the trust people place in me. Whether I’m working with a bride on one of the most important days of her life, someone getting ready for a red carpet event, a photoshoot, or simply celebrating a personal milestone, I take that responsibility seriously and handle each moment with care. Alongside my beauty work, I’ve also had the privilege of working in film and television as a production makeup artist. I’ve contributed to projects that you can catch on some of your favorite streaming platforms, helping bring characters to life and making sure everyone looks their absolute best on camera.
At the end of the day, I want potential clients and followers to know that my work is rooted in intention. I’m not here just to make you look pretty, I’m here to help you see yourself, love yourself, and show up fully. My brand is about beauty, yes, but more than that, it’s about empowerment, joy, and authenticity.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Honestly, my best source of new clients has been word of mouth, and I’m incredibly grateful for that. I have some of the most loyal, supportive clients who not only come back to me time and time again, but also refer me to their friends, family, coworkers, and wider community. That kind of trust and love means everything to me. There’s something really special about being recommended through personal connection, people know I’m going to show up with professionalism, care, and a custom experience. I don’t take that lightly. Every referral feels like a huge compliment, and it reminds me that doing good, honest work really does speak for itself.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding part is seeing people light up when they see themselves in the mirror. That moment when they smile, sit up a little straighter, or say, “Wow, is that really me?”, that’s everything to me. It’s not just about the makeup, it’s about how it makes them *feel*. I love being able to pour into people, boost their confidence, and help them feel seen and celebrated. Whether it’s a big event or just a moment they needed to feel good again, being part of that transformation, inside and out, is what keeps me going.
