We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dennis,Loni Crawford a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Dennis,Loni thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
We’re originally from Detroit, but over the years, God has led us to take some bold steps of faith as a couple and as a family. With small kids in tow, we’ve packed up our lives and moved to three different states. Each move came with its share of challenges—new jobs, new schools, new communities, and the uncertainty of starting over. But with every risk came great reward. We discovered resilience in ourselves, strength in our marriage, and the joy of watching our children grow through change. What once felt daunting became proof of God’s faithfulness and a reminder that the greatest risks often bring the greatest rewards.

Who We Are — Dennis & Loni Crawford
We are Dennis and Loni Crawford—marriage coaches, speakers, authors, and ministers dedicated to helping couples build strong, God-centered marriages. Through our ministry, Better 2gether Marriage Coaching LLC, and our podcast, “Better 2gether with Dennis & Loni C.”, we empower couples to grow spiritually, emotionally, and relationally—together.
We’ve been married for over 20 years and are blessed with three amazing children. Originally from Detroit, Michigan, we now live just outside Birmingham, Alabama. Over the years, we’ve served in a wide range of ministries including worship, small groups, premarital counseling, and pastoral care.
Our educational journey began together at the same university, where:
Dennis earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Resources with a minor in Training & Development, later graduating from Pistis Bible School and Highlands College.
Loni earned a Bachelor of Science in Political Science with a minor in English and is also a graduate of Pistis Bible School.
Loni is also a gospel singer/songwriter who began ministering in song at just three years old. Her music and testimony reflect a deep love for God and His people.
Together, we’ve authored books like “KINGdom Homes”, designed to help couples build homes that reflect the love and power of Christ. Dennis also wrote “Heart Meditation of the Believer”, a devotional resource for daily spiritual growth.
Whether we’re leading a marriage retreat like the R4 Marriage Gathering, mentoring couples one-on-one, or speaking at events, our passion is clear: to see marriages thrive and reflect the love of Jesus.

Both Dennis and I are big advocates for mental health. We both take that very serious and have for many years. Dennis has battled with depression for many years and it’s very open to discuss how through the grace of God, loving wife and family and amazing has allowed him to navigate through it.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Unlearn not giving ourselves grace. We tend to give it to others but not to ourselves. Grace is something for all to take part in. We grow through mishaps and even through mess. Everything is not always gonna be a beautiful package. Resilience to move through and give ourselves grace
