We recently connected with Dennis Rosario and have shared our conversation below.
Dennis, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you walk us through some of the key steps that allowed you move beyond an idea and actually launch?
Well, the start of Blanc.NYC was from me being creative and always capturing great moment with my phone. I usually share them to my social media account (@Blanc.NYC) & it started off me capturing landscapes, historic monuments moving on to capturing nature such as plants, animals, the 4 seasons and of-course the New York City madness that happens around us everyday. For something that was a simple hobby became to grow into something people wanted to see more of, had several people interested in me shooting their photos and wanting to see where I get my creative mindset when capturing the right image. With all this traction from the people and posting on my instagram, I decided to purchase my first camera to see if maybe I can capture more professional pieces.
The name Blanc came from a simple nickname growing up, Born and Raised in the Spanish Harlem area where people would call me Blanco which means White in Spanish, they were referring to my features as most would say I could blend in as a “White Boy”. During the time of learning photography I use to work in a Wine and Spirit store down on East Houston in the lower east side of Manhattan, so being around brands and getting know names and specific taste of wines, their was one particular name that stood out to me the most, not sure if It was because of the spelling or the pronunciation or the fact I was hearing it most of my life but the name BLANC stood out like a sore thumb and from there I became Blanć.NYC.
After some years capturing photos for people and learning more about photography I decided to learn to be a business owner and take on clients. which means switching my camera from auto to manual mode. During this time of trail and errors of learning new thing in photography, as well as being a first time business owner. Learning new equipment such as strobe light, mono light , ISO, F-stop, shutter speed, soft box, umbrellas, backdrops, etc.. When to use what at the right moment in time. I am the type of person that I thrive under pressure and normally accomplish greatness when the going gets tough. Being a self taught photographer with no experience to now moving into 2025, 4 years later from starting my official business and still going strong, looking into creating more and achieving more with each session, each client & each year we only grow to be better.

Dennis, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
NYC Based Photography. From the streets of East Harlem, what may seem to be the epicenter of pain, drugs & poverty grew into something so Captivating.
The vision was to create art, and with that, we took photos that people would love and cherish for timeless memories and put a pinch of sazon
we focus on diversity, standing away from the normal. to grow past the expectations set by others, we focus on communication and making sure clients’ satisfaction is met.
BLANC.NYC doesn’t have a specific niche, as New York City represent a bunch of different stories all in one places, Blanc.nyc capture any style of art and photography with no limitations.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
One specific goal of mines with my brand is getting recognition from big names and brands to allow me to capture their photos, working with celebrities and meeting new people and as well growing with all of these opportunities that are happening around me.

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
One thing I wish I knew sooner when starting my photography business is the importance of knowing “business is business” and knowing the importance of contracts, terms and conditions are when having a business that provides a service for the clients
