We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Denisse Wolf a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Denisse , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you have any thoughts about how to create a more inclusive workplace?
We moved to Palm Springs almost two years ago- after living in San diego for over 10 years! Its been a fantastic positive change overall. My biggest challenge was working from home during the beginning of Covid.
I still cant believe this happened and that were still living through it.
My husband (who is also a creative) and myself searched high and low for a studio/ warehouse and just when we were losing hope we found the perfect place.
Now – having the place is one thing- mentally being available after experiencing such a strange and dark time is another . It took me forever to get into the groove again.
Being consistently creative takes discipline, nourishment and practice (I learned this after becoming a mother) – everyone needs a piece of your time and its crucial to give time to your own process. Stepping away from my safe place and allowing myself to only focus on my work in my space was what was missing.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Im a contemporary artist originally from Mexico – I specialize in large scale portrait paintings using bright colors. I have a background in graphic design and illustration.
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
Ive had the luck of meeting the most amazing people through my work. I definitely keep in touch with almost all of them! I have the pleasure of calling them friends- and some even feel like family now.
When clients commission me for work – I have to get a feel of what they like, colors they connect with etc so we get a chance to know one another.
I honestly feel so lucky while I write this because I truly have met the best people !
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My current mission is simply to create as much as I can. After taking some time off I’m just trying to catch up. After I have enough inventory ill make a proper show.
