We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Denisse Dabul. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Denisse below.
Denisse , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you tell us the backstory behind how you came up with the idea?
I’ve always enjoyed working, modeling, and running my own businesses back in Ecuador, my home country. When I moved to the US due to my husband’s work, I felt like being a stay home mom wasn’t right for me and it wasn’t what I wanted to do. However, I also wanted to be home with my kids, so I was in a little bit of a dilemma there. But then, I realized I love fashion, so I decided to start my own blog and my instagram page to share fashion tips with an audience.
At first, I wanted to be a fashion blogger, but it was very hard to create content with two little kids. They wanted to be in every single shot, so then I realized, I am a mom, I do have kids, so I’ll just be a fashion mom. And decided to include my kids in my little project.
Then more moms started to feel identified with my content, and I started growing my audience.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hi! My name is Denisse Dabul, I am a content creator, blogger, wife and mother of two. I started my blog and my social media journey back in 2017 when I moved from my hometown Guayaquil, Ecuador to the United States.
I love what I do, I love being a content creator and the best part of it is I get to include my kids in my projects.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I started my social media journey back in 2017. I think it was a little easier back then, specially in Instagram. The algorithm wasn’t as hard to understand as it is now, I guess. However, I did come up with some ideas in order to build my audience. First of all, I knew from the very beginning that I wanted to include my kids in my social media account. So, I started sharing fashion tips, mommy and me outfits, breakfast recipes that my kids enjoyed, kid friendly activities to do. Then I figured out my audience were latina moms who were 25 to 35 years old who had the same interests as I did. Then more moms, not necessarily latinas, also started following my content.
That is one important advice I can give to those who are just starting this social media life journey, make sure you have the right audience for your product or your service.
Another advice is to be authentic, to be yourself. Followers know when someone is being fake, so the best advice I could give is to be authentic.
Another advice I like to share with those who are just starting this journey is to reply to comments, to engage with the audience, and to constantly appear in stories or posts. This is very important because, for example, followers know when I haven’t been online as much and they start to worry and they even DM me asking if everything is alright and I absolutely love that about them. I feel so loved and appreciated. So yes, if you want to build a social media presence make sure you are actually present in your followers feed.
I know I’ve said it before, but the key is to post on a regular basis, being consistent. If possible, post following a pattern, if you decide to post three times a week, make sure you stick to those 3 same days as if it were a doctor’s appointment you need to get to. Consistency is key.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
Of course, I wish I knew all the apps and resources that I now use back then. For example Preview is one of my favorites, it lets me see how my feed will look like once I schedule my posts. I love that one.
I’ve also taken a lot of creative and social media courses along the way, and I just wish I’d taken them sooner.
Another thing I wish I’d knew was social media strategies and how they work. For example, giveaways. Giveaways are a strategy that is commonly used in social media, but I wish I knew that it wasn’t the right strategy for me, because I don’t think giveaways help you gain a real audience. I guess I wish I had some sort of social media advisor right when I was starting to avoid some mistakes.
And last but not least, I wish I knew that being a content creator is not as easy as it looks. People often believe that being a content creator is easy, but it isn’t. Sometimes you have to work 24/7 creating content for your audience, because if don’t post anything interesting, and on a regular basis, they’ll most likely unfollow you. So being a content creator requires hard work. Yes, you can work anytime during the day, even during midnights if you have a busy schedule, but it requires hard work, specially if you want to succeed.
