Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Denise Vernon-Dyson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Denise thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
At D.C. Dyson Consulting, our mission is more than a statement—it’s a calling. We exist to help people reclaim their voice, walk in purpose, and build with power. Our work is rooted in the belief that every individual, every vision, and every business carries divine potential. I don’t just see clients—I see souls. I see stories. I see generations being healed and redefined through the work we do together.
This mission was born out of my own journey—one marked by adversity, abandonment, and ultimately, a deep, spiritual awakening. As a survivor of abuse, neglect, and loss, I know what it feels like to be voiceless, to be overlooked, and to have dreams deferred. But I also know what it means to be restored by the hand of God. There was a moment in my youth when I found a tattered Bible in the home of my great-grandparents. In its pages, and through a dream that I now know was divine intervention, I heard the voice of Elohim call me by name and remind me: “You are not forgotten. You are chosen.”
That encounter planted a seed. And now, I get to help others water their own. Whether I’m helping a single mom launch her first business, guiding a nonprofit founder through the chaos of startup, or simply encouraging someone not to give up—I know I’m walking in my assignment.
This mission is meaningful to me because it reflects the restorative power of God’s love. It’s about more than profit—it’s about purpose. It’s about turning pain into power and vision into victory. I believe when people align with who they are divinely created to be, everything shifts—families, communities, and legacies.
That’s what keeps me going. That’s why I do this work—with heart, with strategy, and with sacred intention.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Denise Vernon-Dyson, and I am the founder of D.C. Dyson Consulting. I am a woman of deep faith, a wife, a mother of six (four daughters, one son, and two bonus children), and a survivor who transformed her pain into purpose. My journey has been far from easy, but every challenge I’ve faced has prepared me to walk alongside others as they rise, rebuild, and reclaim what’s theirs.
I entered this industry not just with skill, but with calling. I’ve always been someone who could see the bigger picture—who could hear someone’s dream and help them make it real. But it wasn’t until I faced my own valleys—abuse, abandonment, instability, and the generational trauma passed down through silence—that I understood just how needed this work is.
At the age of 12, during a time of deep darkness in my life, I found an old Bible in the home of my great-grandparents. That night, I had a dream that I now recognize as divine. It was in that moment I realized that I wasn’t alone—and that I was being prepared to be a bridge for others to cross from brokenness to breakthrough.
D.C. Dyson Consulting is built on that foundation. I offer services that support individuals and small businesses in launching and expanding their visions with both strategic clarity and personal alignment. That includes:
Business consulting and development
Branding and logo creation
EIN setup and foundational support
Social media strategy and content consulting
Personal empowerment and coaching
I specialize in working with women—especially mothers, survivors, and community builders—who are trying to do what hasn’t been done in their families: start businesses, lead with confidence, and live with purpose. I also serve nonprofit leaders and small business owners who want more than a checklist—they want direction, encouragement, and results.
What sets me apart is my holistic and heart-centered approach. I don’t just hand you a service—I walk with you through the process. I pray over my work. I speak life into the visions of my clients. I help people go from “Can I really do this?” to “I’m already doing it.”
The problems I help solve are often rooted in overwhelm, uncertainty, or lack of resources. I step in with both compassion and strategy. Whether it’s helping a new entrepreneur bring their vision to life, or guiding a seasoned professional through a rebrand, I bring the same energy every time: excellence, intention, and soul.
What I’m most proud of is how my work has helped others believe in themselves again. I’ve seen women cry tears of joy when they see their logo or business plan, because for the first time, they feel seen. They feel heard. They feel ready.
If you take away anything from my story, let it be this: I’m here to help you build what you were born to create. With purpose. With power. And with a love that covers the process. My brand is rooted in transformation, and I am honored to help others rise into everything they were created to be.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
For a long time, I believed that love meant sacrifice—extreme sacrifice. I thought being a good partner, friend, or support system meant constantly pouring into others, even when my own cup was bone dry. Especially in my marriage, I gave and gave, thinking that if I just loved harder, gave more grace, bought more things, or kept showing up… it would finally be “enough.”
But somewhere along the way, I started to feel like I was disappearing. I wasn’t just supporting someone with mental health challenges—I was carrying them, absorbing their pain until I started showing symptoms of trauma that weren’t even mine. I realized I was becoming numb, overextended, and emotionally exhausted. Not because I didn’t care, but because I had forgotten to care for me too.
The Unlearning:
I had to unlearn the lie that love means self-abandonment.
Real love—healthy love—doesn’t require you to lose your identity, your light, or your peace. I learned that it’s okay to have boundaries. It’s okay to say, “I love you, but I can’t do this for you.” It’s okay to choose myself without guilt.
The Breakthrough:
This unlearning taught me how to honor my God-given discernment, to stop ignoring the still voice within that was whispering:
“You matter too.”
Now, I understand that the most powerful love I can offer others starts with the love I show myself.
And I’m learning that healing isn’t selfish—it’s sacred.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Honestly? I didn’t have a big strategy when I started. I just had something to say—and I knew someone out there needed to hear it.
In the beginning, my posts were raw, real, and sometimes random. I was juggling life, motherhood, business, healing from personal pain, and still trying to figure out who I was becoming. But every time I shared a piece of my journey—whether it was about faith, growth, family, or starting over—people responded. Not because I was perfect, but because I was honest.
The real shift happened when I stopped posting for attention and started posting with intention.
I realized:
✨ People don’t need more “content”—they need connection.
✨ Your story, even the messy parts, carries light for someone else’s dark place.
✨ You don’t have to be “influential,” just impactful.
I grew my audience by being me. I shared wins, lessons, pain, joy, and purpose. I talked about my work serving the community, my passion for birthing services and advocacy, and my journey through spiritual clarity and emotional exhaustion.
And here’s my advice if you’re just starting out:
**Start where you are. Don’t wait until it’s perfect. Show up with what you’ve got—your story is your superpower.
**Be consistent, not just with posting—but with being you. People follow energy, not just content.
**Don’t get caught up in likes and numbers. Focus on impact. If you help 1 person, you’re already winning.
**Pray over your platform. Seriously. Invite God into it. Let Him use your voice for the people assigned to your light.
**Speak how you speak. Your voice doesn’t need to sound like everyone else. Let your authenticity be the brand.
**Building a presence wasn’t overnight. But it was on purpose.
