Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Denise Sutton. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Denise, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
In 2007, God spoke to me and said, “start the business”. I had received several requests from various people to video tape, and edit life events and special services. As I thought about what to name the business, I wrote down several names mulling it over and over. The first name was very long and I had to find a way to incorporate the essence of what was placed in my heart plus have a catchy acronym in the process.. Although I was concerned that some may think the business name had something to do with children, I was determined to keep the word “Child” in the business name. Now A Child Productions represents the revelation that I had become a child of God. I did not know that before, but once I accepted God as my Father and Jesus as my savior, I was set and assured that Now A Child Productions was the official name of the company. During the pandemic in fall of 2020, I decided after speaking with a few business coaches leaders and consultants to rebrand the business. Since more people were in a “stay at home” stance and began exploring other ways to share messages via social platforms such as Zoom, IG, and YouTube, I saw a need to help those who were unfamiliar with these platforms and the technical know how. I began giving tips and tricks to use when filming themselves from home or any location for that matter. It was mentioned to me to consider changing the company name to fit the consulting work and courses I started teaching to help newbies with hosting and videography techniques.. I decided not to change the name but to add a subset to the business where I also incorporate consulting as well as videography, and editing services to the business. Now A Child Productions although a small business has been around for almost 16 years and as the need for servicing budding personalities, future videographers and the Christian community is there, our aim is to be there to help others reach their next level in this life.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Have you ever had to pivot?
Now A Child Productions, LLC began in 2007 as a videography and editing service to those who needed them for life events, social gatherings and church programs. I had an opportunity in 2017 to join forces with another business owner and begin my own streaming channel. I asked some friends to help me with fulfilling the 24/7 operation of the streaming channel. I underwent training from the channel owner and in turn trained someone to upload programs to the platform. I then hired another person to schedule all the social media notifications. I did not realize how much work was involved until I was in the thick of the task. Although I had help in the beginning from friends, it was short lived help. I had no other choice but to run the operation by myself with the exception of the social media coordinator. I ran the streaming channel from 2017 until 2020. I could no longer keep up with the pace of videotaping, editing, uploading, soliciting others to air their show/program on the streaming channel, plus maintain my full time job and my sanity. I let the streaming channel go. I needed a break from the stress. I prayed to find a team of people to help me, but no one was willing to take the challenge. I learned to wait on God for direction in everything. Although the opportunity seemed ideal, it may not have been the ideal time. I had to close down Now A Child Productions Broadcast Network. I took a breather and had to spend time reflecting on the things I did well at as well as the mistakes I made along the way. This taught me a valuable lesson. Whenever obstacles may stop you from doing or achieving the intended thing you had in mind,, it is important to take a “Selah” moment. In the book of Psalms in the bible, the word “Selah” is used. Psalms is a book of poetry. Selah simply means, “pause” or “silence”. During my Selah period, I took a pause break. After recuperating, reflecting and regrouping, i began the journey to rebrand myself again as a consultant in teaching others public speaking and videography techniques through courses. I also continue to offer editing and videography services along with producing several other independent television shows.. Don’t be afraid when you have to change course. Take your time, reflect on your mistakes and press forward to the next venture in your life journey. Don’t Stop, Don’t Quit! Keep Pressing!
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of new clients for me has been word of mouth and when people have seen my work in the past from former clients and inquire about my services. Social media also helps drive popularity and notoriety to a degree however it sometimes lack in sales for me.. I do like social media when it it time for launching courses and training. That draws people attention and leads them to possibly “buy in” to the packages when you offer a free challenge or eBook to get them intrigued into partaking of additional services you offer and provide to help them solve their pain points.
