We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Denise Loutas a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Denise, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you wish you had started sooner?
I started to take creating content more seriously in 2022. I was at a point in my life where I stopped caring what others thought, my kids were grown and I wanted to showcase my love for hello kitty. I always loved taking pictures and videos and creating cute edits. Anytime a new creative app showed up in the App Store, I would download it and try it out. I fell in love with vine and would watch YouTube videos on how the best vines were created. Then in 2015, I joined musical.ly and I was obsessed. I would create videos but only a handful made it live as I was too embarrassed to post them all. Then when my account transferred to tik tok, I started to create more but again didn’t really start actively posting until a few years ago, where I introduced the world to the love I have always had for hello kitty! Now I post at least a few times per week and I am a tik tok shop affiliate!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hi! My name is Denise but my besties call me D-Nice. Im a NJ based creative known as dniceloveshellokitty on tik tok and Luvlydnice on Instagram. Even though my 9-5 is a bit challenging as an Enrolled Agent (yay taxes), I don’t let that stop me from being a kawaii content creator. I post my Hello Kitty hauls, family life and funny memes. My brand is all about blending fun and financial empowerment, and showing you that you can love pink and glitter no matter what age you are. I absolutely love the community I’ve built!
Have you ever had to pivot?
One of the biggest pivots in my life happened when I became a mom at 17 and immediately put all my time and effort into raising my three amazing men. As a high school dropout and single mom, I focused on getting my education and providing for my boys.
That pivot taught me how to move with purpose, even when the odds are stacked. It’s why I show up the way I do today- both in my financial services and in my creative work. I know what it’s like to be underestimated, and I’ve made it my mission to empower others to rewrite their own stories, just like I did.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding part of being a creative is the connection. Whether I’m sharing a Hello Kitty haul, a relatable moment, or a piece of my personal journey- when someone says, “This made my day” or “I feel seen,” that’s everything to me. I love being able to take my creativity, my story, and my passions and turn them into content that inspires, entertains, or helps someone feel a little less alone. That kind of impact? You can’t put a price on it. To top it off, I’ve met some of the most amazing people!
