Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Denise Grant. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Denise, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
The name of my company…. What does HACTAC mean?
So funny when I started in this industry, I was the cake decorator and my company was name after my mother and it was name “Here A Cake, There A Cake” (from the Old McDonald nursery rhyme).
When I decided to become a full service wedding and event company, I expressed that I would be changing the name and my mother was not happy that I was taking the little piece she gave to the company away. So to make her happy, I used the acronym to “Here A Cake, There A Cake” and we became “HACTAC”.
Denise, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a 39 year old Jamaican born mom of a charismatic almost 12 year old boy… My business started because I wanted to make my sons first birthday cake which I did do successfully. From that day we became the cake decorator.
We did a lot of amazing things, but about 4 years ago I decided I just didn’t want to be the cake person anymore. While on the set of Black Ink Atlanta, there was an issue with the decor for the cake table so I took the initiative , did the decor and from there and evolved the business into decor.
We are now full service florals and decor but we are not just for one specific type of event, we are for ALL types of events. We are from weddings all the way to corporate events and everything in between. What sets us apart…. We take every event and make it our own, it’s our wedding, it’s our birthday party, it’s our corporate event and in doing that we pay attention to every detail that will make the event extra special.
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
We like our clients to become HACTAC family so we keep in touch by remembering special moments we were apart of. Or any milestones that may happen in their life after. Wether it’s, remember their anniversary or congratulating them if they move or are growing their family. We remind them that they matter to us even after their event.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Honestly our best source of new clients are word of mouth ( someone told them about us) or social media. We have gained so many clients from keeping our pages active and up to date while using social media and other marketing tools
