We recently connected with Denise Foster and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Denise, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about how you went about setting up your own practice and if you have any advice for professionals who might be considering starting their own?

All of my life, I have had intuitive gifts. When I was in my mid 30’s, I took my first Reiki class in Tucson, AZ. It was at this moment, that I knew that, being a Healer was my lives purpose. I now was able to use my gifts during a healing session.

I rented space for 2 years at a church, providing Reiki sessions by donation. During this time, I started a Reiki Circle to bring together both Healers and those wishing to receive energy. Teaching Reiki is my all time favorite. It”s such a blessing to be able to help to uncover Healers in this world. After purchasing my townhome, i turned my 3rd bedroom into the healing room, bringing my practice into my home. After teaching Usui Reiki for 5 years, I decide to retake all of my Reiki classes at the “International Center for Reiki Training”, in Sedona Az. Here, I moved ahead to become certified in Karuna Reiki, that provided me with another 12 healing symbols.

Over the years, I began to incorporate additional therapies into my Reiki practice. Adding lavender essential oil, helped the client to relax. I found beautiful gemstones and crystals at the Tucson Gem show. Laying these crystals on the chakras, helps to balance them quickly, as I am sending healing energy. After learning about tuning forks, I added them into the session as well. After purchasing my first chakra set of crystal singing bowls, i began to play them throughout the treatment. So now I have begun to call my practice “Chakra Balance Denise.

After moving from Az to Atlanta GA, I have rented offices throughout Atlanta over a 9 year period. My current office resides in Buckhead. It has a nice Zen relaxing atmosphere. You can feel the healing energy as you walk into the space. After 21 Years of practicing my Holistic business, I had buildt up a steady clientele and have been able to fulfill my dream of helping others, as a full time business.

To my surprise, after playing my singing bowls for clients during a healing session. I now perform sound baths throughout the Atlanta area in Salt Caves, art galleries and yoga studios. This allows my healing energy that comes out of my hands, as I play,, to get dispersed to all in attendance. I now teach a class to show you how to play the singing bowls.

One of the greatest gifts to me, is to see many of my students, leave their day jobs and pursue successful Holistic careers proving healings. Before deciding to open your doors, you will need a base of clients. I do a lot of social media each month that promotes my classes, events and healing sessions. I have seen some students that get their Reiki Master and go out and rent an office right away. They don’t do any social media and after their friends have come, they have no clients and close shop. So take the time to grow your business first. You want to be able to have enough business each month to cover your rent.

Denise, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

My forte is Chakra Balancing. You receive Reiki energy along with the crystal singing bowl sound healing, tuning forks, chakra bags filled with gemstones and crystals and essential oils. This session is concluded with a consultation of what I have found in your energy field during the session. Clients say they feel the peaceful effects for a month after their session.

EFT the Tapping Technique, is great for one specific issue, such as PTSD, fear of flying, trauma, phobias, old patterns. This technique helps to neutralize the emotional trigger that is creating this issue, so it now does not bother you any longer. I’ve seen issues that have been around for years resolved in a few sessions.

Past Life Regressions are another favorite. Through a series of light hypnosis, breathwork and relaxation techniques, you are guided through the Akashic Records, to view a life time that you have already lived. This is to bring forth those valuable lessons to guide and heal you in this current life time for your highest good. In addition to one on one sessions, I also provide a month Past Life Regression Sound Bath in a group setting.

Crystal Light Therapy offers deep states of meditation and clarity. A cooper light fixture the length of your torso, suspends above you. It has 7 large crystals shining chakra colors on you. A headset with solfeggio tone meditation music is placed on you. A drop of lavender across your forehead is added for relaxation. The crystals along with the cooper, produce a cocoon of profound energy around you. Some clients felt pain relief, anxiety gone, deep states of relaxation.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?

You can read a Reiki book every day and you will never know Reiki, until you do it. The Reiki energy will guide and teach you. The more healings you give, the more it helped to heal my own life. For as you give a healing, you are receiving one as well. Clients can tell if you are genuine or not. By coming from integrity, with a true sense of empathy for your clients, is the key. Humbly being of service, to those in need and not coming from ego, is the way back to God. You are building up a good karmic bank account.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

As a Healer, we channel the healing energy with no expectations. As we keep our mind still and free of chatter, we are then lead, as how to help the client for their highest good. People come to you with all kinds of health issues, traumas or loss. The reward is to see them leave happy, balanced and peaceful.

I had a client Jill. She was a healthy middle aged women. After 911, she woke up crippled. The Doctors ran all kinds of tests. They never could find out what was causing the disability. Jill came to me with such excruciating pain in her back. I had her lay on the massage table on her stomach. I prayed and asked God “How can I help Jill with her back pain?” In my intuition I heard “In the aura, open up her spine.” So without touching the physical body, in the aura, above her back I used my finger to open it up. In my 3rd eye, I saw her bone marrow black. I heard “clean it out,” So with my fingers in the air above her body, I was scrapping out the blackness along her spine. I asked “what caused this? I heard like a heat beat ” parasite, parasite. parasite.” I filled the area in with golden healing light.

I told Jill that I heard it was a parasite and she said that she worked at the Humane Society. That the Doctors could not find traces of the parasite, but that’s what they thought it was. I believe that she picked up a parasite from one of the animals at the shelter and it went into her spinal cord. Jill told me months later after our session, that she was still pain free.

As a healer, we are the bridge between God and man, as we relay messages or we are being guided by a higher power. It’s a huge responsibility and it has been a sacrifice in my life. But I have never been happier and more fulfilled as I am now.
