We were lucky to catch up with Denis Gapone recently and have shared our conversation below.

Denis, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.

I used to work on big TV production as a videographer and filmed TV shows like Biggest losers, Bachelor, X-factor, etc. It was a dream job to be part of these projects and do what you love but in some time I felt limitation and felling that I’m ready for something more.
I remember like we had a film trip in Vietnam, it was my first trip abroad and I saw how different world could be. And your normal things, what are you doing always in your way could be made by different way, the way of speaking the way of thinking the way of doing and explaining all of this make me think different in my life I was staying on a beach and watching how guys are jumping on boards with kites and I see myself to live next to the beach and to the ocean instead of city, driving scooter instead of car and of course kite-surfing and surfing instead of work and film it all, thats became a dream immediately. it was a year of hesitating and doubt but after a year in one day I took a risk and buy one way ticket to live my dream life and never back again. I had 3 weeks to prepare everything for my trip and I didn’t sell anything I just bought a camera and a lot of equipment and went to Vietnam then form Vietnam to Bali where I have set up video production company – BaliVid which filming commercials, music video, documentary series, live streaming and many more

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I was working in TV for more than 5 years and i brought all these experience from the big productions to my business and it helps me with small crew make big projects with perfect quality of working on a set and provide amazing result. It became easy to travel – all your crew could be down even to one person. I like to travel with film projects and filming in different places around the world. This is the best time spending, you film such an amazing moment witch couldn’t happen again in your way with your angle of view and then millions views will watch it. watch in your way it. watch how you did it

I have the full production team – scriptwriter, director, producer, cinematographer, gaffer etc.
I’m looking for someone who need full production service or co-production in Bali or anything in the world. We could be a core team and cover all needed position or take care of any position what you would need.
My passion to film movie, to film music video, to film fashion and work with my team who does a live stream, filming events, filming real estate and developing business.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?

I remember like i have zero on my bank account, I didn’t speak english and I didn’t have plans, i have only dreams but i have camera and passion to film and it start bringing everything in my life. When I’m leaving Ukraine i didn’t bring much money i spent all my saves on camera, additional gears and gopro cameras which i thought it would be a great idea to rent it out but it did not well in some time I slowly sold all my gopro cameras
So I starts with saves from my corporate job and I am able to buy a camera and ticket to Vietnam and slowly I start invest money from film projects to equipment and its start to collect a lot of gear and work with all of it as well and charge for rental For me its a slow process when you start with small part and already can generate cash then make saves then improve yourself and invest your own money its maybe slow process but it a nice journey

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?

People is the best source of new clients if you do good for one person and he will tell about you another person for sure. Client will show your work and after somebody want to have same or different but with you. I don’t know how people could be good in social media and these days it probably the best way to get new clients but in our business you cant take a random person in internet you need to have testimonials from the people you know already and not only professionals skills but personal quality sometimes it even important than skills
