We recently connected with Denesha McCormick and have shared our conversation below.
Denesha, appreciate you joining us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
There’s really no interesting story behind the name of my companies. I simply focused on what services I’d be offering and/or producing and tailored the names behind those services.
So, for Pressed Expressions by Nesh, I know I would be creating t-shirts, sublimation items, and I would be pressing the items with a heat press. mug press and tumbler press.
I knew that I would be pressing expressions or statements on the substrates, shirts, and other items, so it just made sense for the name of the business to be Pressed Expressions and my nickname is Nesh, so adding Nesh to the end of it really made sense.
The same goes for my art, Pour Aesthetics by Nesh, I’m a fluid artist, something I started as a hobby when the pandemic started. I needed to keep my anxiety levels down and I’ve always loved art, so it only made sense to find something to do in that field.
With fluid art, I’m literally pouring the paint onto the canvas, tile, or resin mold(s), and making sure it’s aesthetically pleasing to the eye. So again, it only made sense for the name of the business to have those two words in it followed by my name.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I’ve been a creative for as long as I can remember, it’s something about working with my hands or closing my eyes and seeing the images I want to create that truly inspired me to share my talents and creativity with others. I started sharing my crafts and talents with others back in 2017 when I purchased a Cricut machine, or should I say when I was forced to purchase a Cricut machine by my best friend and my cousin.
I’ve never told them this but if it weren’t for them, I don’t know if I would’ve ever taken that risk or that leap of faith. I create statement t-shirts, I’ve recently gotten into sublimation, again focused by my best friend, to try it. I started in 2019, and haven’t looked back since. I also create, design and print wedding invitations, baby shower invitations, cups, mugs, mouse pads, notebooks, anything that is able to be pressed, I can do it.
Something that I believe sets me apart is my customer service, I’m a one woman show but I don’t let that get in the way of how I interact with my customers. My customers mean a lot to me, they are literally the ones who help me continue to be able to share my creativity – I love receiving feedback and selfies with something they’ve purchased from me, whether it be a shirt, a cup, a painting, I love it!
I’m most proud of my ability to keep pushing even when I want to give up. Listen, when the pandemic first started, I knew that I was going to be struggling when it came down to my business because a lot of my consumers had lost their jobs or could not find jobs and I knew that it would be detrimental to my business.
Unfortunately, I did give up on the business for a while, a long while, but it was something that had consumed my daily life for years and it just didn’t seem right not coming into my workroom and creating that I just decided to focus on things that I could create for me.
So I started small, creating for me, and eventually, I joined TikTok, started making videos, which are very difficult by the way (lol), and found joy in doing that. Even though I’ve never gone viral, some of my videos have done well.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Posting on my Facebook business pages, sharing those posts from the business pages to my personal page and having my friends engage on the post; whether it’s a comment, a like/love, and/or a share – engagement is everything.
I’ve also been posting on TikTok – saving those TikTok’s and posting them as reels on IG and Facebook – that’s my little secret…reuse and recycle!

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Here’s another secret, I’m not into gatekeeping, I’m willing to help wherever I can! So here’s what I did when I first started out and continue to do…I send out packages. Free packages! Follow me, if you’re into YouTube, a certain social media influencer or influencers, TiKTok stars, etc. and they have their P.O. Box information publicly listed – send them a package!
When sending the package, make sure your logo, branding, business cards, and products are put together nicely, make sure packaging is top tier, that really catches their eye. Back in December of 2018, I sent a shirt to a social media influencer, she posted it, and within minutes, my website crashed! It was three days after Christmas and I said to myself, “Merry Christmas to me!”
My branding, logo, packaging and business card were put together nicely, the shirts sold out, I was tired, and overwhelmed but so very thankful! That’s something that I will never forget – ever! It happened again back in June of 2020 – sent a package out to one of my favorite YouTubers, she wore the shirt in one of her videos, listed my website, and the rest was history,
Send packages, be patient, and the rest will follow; I promise!
