We recently connected with Dena Simmons and have shared our conversation below.
Dena, appreciate you joining us today. Do you have a hero? What have you learned from them?
My hero is my mom.
There are so many things I learned from my mom. Growing up my mom was a single mom raising three kids so at times things weren’t always easy. My mom taught us how to be strong, independent, along with being honest, trustworthy and live up to your word.
But more importantly to be the person I was meant to be.
Dena, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hey! I’m Dena, owner, and photographer of Dena Simmons Photography. I am a Texas based Portrait and Wedding photographer who loves to capture your life and love story through my lens.
I have been married to my high school sweetheart since 1996 and we have a daughter along with our family dog Lilly.
I started my photography business in 2009/2010 and photographing weddings in 2019. As, long as I can remember I have loved taking photographs and after years of being able to do what I love to do, I now get to share my passion with others.
It’s hard to say what I’m most proud of but I’m proud of how far my photography and my business has grown over the years.
I want my clients to be able to feel comfortable during their session and to have memories that last a life time.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
This question is tricky. I try to post something on Instagram and Facebook everyday and various items in my stories. A lot of my audience has been word of mouth. I plan my content ahead of time as much as possible.
Advice I would give is do what works best for you. What one person does may or may not work for the next person.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding part of being a photographer is being able to see/hear my clients reaction when their gallery is delivered.
