Demi , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
Life is all about taking risks and wholeheartedly believing in yourself. That was the biggest lesson I had to learn as an entrepreneur and business owner. I dreamt about what I have accomplished thus far in my career and have a very optimistic outlook on the future to come. When I decided to leave my full-time job to follow my passion it was scary. Terrifying actually. It was the best risk I could’ve taken on myself.
Years had past of me not living in my purpose, fully and authentically. I was scared to bet on myself honestly. Scared to take that risk on myself. Looking back it sounds so silly. Like why would someone be scared to bet on themselves? It happens everyday and to a lot of people. I made a decision at that moment in August 2018 to take a risk on myself and make something happen that would add purpose and fulfillment to my life.
Beginning with getting back into Esthetics full time, I was frequently faced with obstacles and responsibilities that required me to take a risk on myself. Those risks were not small or cheap either. They had to happen though. A risk without sacrifice is not possible. Once I understood I had to sacrifice a little to get more it clicked for me. That risk that I took on myself allowed me help hundreds of people throughout the years regain their confidence with their skin, further my education in medical Esthetics, grow and sustain my own skincare line and start a mentoring/coaching program for other beauty professionals. It was the best risk I could’ve taken.

Hello….I’m Demi Cortez, a licensed esthetician, laser technician and phlebotomist based in Atlanta, Ga. I’ve been in the esthetics industry for 10+ years. If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
I definitely would choose the same profession if I had to start all over. The fulfillment that I get from my clients and educating them means everything to me. They come to me with questions and problems. It’s my job to find the answers and help solve their problems. It’s my purpose. They keep me going.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
My honesty and understanding of my craft has helped me gain my reputation in my industry and with my clients. My clients trust me and know that I’m going to give them the best solution to their problem. I like to create an experience for my clients.
In this industry you have to study and continuously perfect your craft to be the best esthetician for your clients. This industry is forever evolving and you have to move with the curve. Always be ready to learn something new and never get too cocky. Be confident yes, never cocky.
