Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Demetrius Dorn. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Demetrius , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
My journey in life certainly consists of so many twists, and turns. 27 years ago, after making such bad choices in life I found myself homeless with my daughter in another state from home. Leaving my oldest daughter behind. We lived there for six weeks, and as a result was offered free education; which helped to save my life. That disaster was a blessing in disguise. I graduated Surgical Tech School with Honors, and almost 24 Yrs later, I’m still Standing proud in the OR. That’s the reason I created A’Dorn Comfy Closet. After hours of working, when I come home I just want to throw on Comfy clothes and relax. After turning 50 last year, clothes begin to feel restricted so I launched my own Comfy Line with apparel that’s just that.. comfortable. I provide durable, high quality, affordable Loungewear for women of all sizes, who may impacted by today’s economy, but still have the desire to look fabulous. The benefit of shopping with me is that joggers will always be relevant which means years from now, you can still wear and feel stylish. The affordable items can be mixed and matched as well. I dedicate A’Dorn Comfy Closet to my daughter Ashley who passed away in 2000, at age 12. Our last name is Dorn hence A’Dorn Comfy Closet.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I think what sets me apart from other Loungewear Businesses is my one on one relationships with my customers. I’m truly interested in their wants and needs. Most importantly, I value their input on inventory, and things they look forward to purchasing. They’re returned customers because the quality is superb, and also my customer service is A1. I value that.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I’ve survived so many difficult obstacles that some many just not have the strength. I’ve been abused, misused, homeless, car repossessed, made horrible choices, lost my daughter at such a young age, and through it all my faith has not been shattered. I may lay down, but I rise again just like the sun. I just can’t be stopped. I give everything my all, and will until I physically can’t.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
A year ago, I opened a uniform store, and shortly after begin to realize that I wrongfully invested my money into a company that wasn’t true to their word, so I quietly begin to pivot my business into where I’ve arrived. When one thing doesn’t work, it doesn’t mean it’s over. Just means it’s time to recharge, rethink and replan. That’s just what I’ve done, and so thankful and happy I did.
