We were lucky to catch up with DeMarcus Williams recently and have shared our conversation below.
DeMarcus, appreciate you joining us today. How do you think about vacations as a business owner? Do you take them and if so, how? If you don’t, why not?
Yes vacations are very necessary in the creative field. An overworked and stressed mind makes it very hard to focus. Usually is the reason for creative blocks. Take some time away and allow yourself to be inspired. I highly recommend!

DeMarcus, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Demarcus Williams. I’m a 33yr old Dallas based creative/photographer. I offer many services to clients and also other creatives with things like; Lighting tech, Digi tech, set design and photography. I’ve been in the industry full time for about 5 years and it is definitely a passion for me. All my life I used different creative outlets to express myself but once I found photography it just fit you know or shall I say it found me. I started with lifestyle photography but found my niche in fashion/editorial. The rest is history! Haha I felt the need to end with a cheesy quote
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
What helped me build my rep was making sure I treated each client like they were my first. Built a relationship and catered to their every concern. Kept my work a quality consistent and always brushing up on my skills showcasing them every step of the way. Also a follow up every now and then to make sure they remember they can contact me for any photography related services or questions.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Social media can definitely get tricky so if anyone knows how frustrating gaining an audience can be it’s me. One thing I had to learn was that consistency was the best line of defense against the algorithm. A few ads and hashtags may be helpful as well. My followers and audience grew once I honed in on my niche and remained consistent. Also replying to positive comments with genuine responses helps build a small online relationship with your audience. All of those key points helped me thus far.
