Hi DeMarcus , thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
DeMarcus Bumpers a Houston Texas Native with aspirations of becoming the first African American Male Houstonian Emmy Award, Golden Globe, and Academy Award Winning Actor. Right now in current day he is on the path to making his dream come true by already lighting television screens with back to back film releases that are a success on the streaming platform such as Apple TV, Tubi, Amazon Prime, and more. In addition, has movie set to hit select movie theaters in March of 2024.
Mr. Bumpers has already appeared in a string of films such as; Beware Of Paul Pry, Celebrity Fever, Secret Killer, Under Pressure, The Devil Comes Dressed For Church Too, and scheduled to appear in atleast a dozen more upcoming feature films as early as 2024 and beyond.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
DeMarcus Bumpers was born in Houston,TX and raised by an impressive Black Wealthy Family. Mr. Bumpers attended and graduated from Prairie View A&M University. He worked in the oil and gas industry in Houston. Eventually, Bumpers gave up a six figure career in oil field to pursue acting full-time and packed his bags relocating to Los Angeles to concentrate on his dream professionally. Before the transition to acting Mr. Bumpers had plans to attend Law School, start private Law Practice and continuing extending legal advice and summarizing business contracts in the oil & gas industry and consult. Mr. Bumpers is family to some very high profile fight such as Grammy Award Winning Singer Beyonce Knowles Carter (Cousin), NFL New York Giants NFL Player Darius Slayton (Cousin), Hollywood Award Winning Director Justin Simien (Cousin) of popular hit film “Dear White People”, The Late Grammy Award Winning Rapper Nipsey Hussle (Cousin), and Family to The Legendary Michael “Harry O” Harris & Lydia Harris both Founders Of Death Row Records and Investors with Dr. Dre with Michael Harris as current Chief Operating Officer with Snoop Dogg as Chief Executive Officer. The list of prominent figures in Mr. Bumpers Family goes on and on beyond the figures listed here.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
One of the most rewarding things about being an Actor for Mr. Bumpers is being blessed to tell stories to the world on television screens that the voiceless and nameless with never get a chance to tell and impact lives by taking that generation of talented actors helping them to reach the top to success. Also, the most rewarding thing about being actor is knowing that the barrier that was up has been torn down in order for Mr. Bumpers to reach various heights personally and professionally in Hollywood.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Mr. Bumpers went to countless auditions where he heard “No” determined to break into the industry he did not let that stop him from securing movie roles as an actor despite negative and multiple distractions around him. During the pandemic he channeled his energy towards perfecting his craft more and branding after quickly learning that he could not wait on a team to make all the business moves for his career.
