We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Delvandra (Dee) Hutchings. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Delvandra (Dee) below.
Hi Delvandra (Dee), thanks for joining us today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
Hello Canvas Rebel Team. My name is Dee and I am the owner of EyeProvideVibez. EyeProvideVibez initially began as a mobile bartending and hookah business in the middle Georgia area. I would cater certain events including weddings, corporate events, baby showers/gender reveals, birthday parties, etc. Since I have relocated and moved to Atlanta however, I have sort of did a rebrand for my business or more so of an addition. Instead of just providing bartending services and supplying hookahs, I have decided to create a total experience; a vibe. For example, for Cinco de Mayo this year, I curated what I call a “tour” where my friends and I start at one venue and travel to three to four different places throughout the day. On Cinco de Mayo, we indulged in day libations and street tacos at Westside Motor Lounge before traveling to Zari Lounge for cocktails and hookah. We ended the night at Bonfire ATL which is a festival here in Atlanta that offers various food vendors, a silent headphone experience with three DJ’s, various vendors such as clothing and accessories, holistic items, numerous games, a skate park, and there is even an actual bonfire in the middle of the venue. I called this event “Cinco de Vibeo.” Just recently, I curated another event for Juneteenth called ” Vibeteenth.” From visiting the High Museum of Art to skating at the legendary Cascade Skating Rink, we thrived in our blackness while embracing the freedom that we as a whole just recently began to commemorate. The “eye” in EyeProvideVibez represents my intentional connection with the third eye. I am spiritually grounded and I’ve chosen to become the epitome of my brand. My mission is to create an experience that embodies inclusivity and masters the craft of “being a vibe.” Thriving in the present and having fun is my key goal at all of my events and honestly a key factor as to how I live my daily life. EyeProvideVibez offers crafted cocktails and exquisite hookahs, all while creating an ambiance that motivates you to live you best life and vibe out.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Delvandra Hutchings but I go by Dee for short. I currently reside in Atlanta Georgia. I initially started off as a hookah attendant seven years ago at a Mediterranean lounge in Clarksville, Tennessee. One night, one of the bartenders weren’t able to make it to work and I hopped behind the bar. The rest is history. EyeProvideVibez is a mobile bartending and hookah business that caters to the Metro Atlanta area and beyond. EyeProvideVibez also serves as a ” where to” page on Instagram. From food festivals and concerts to local museums and hidden gems, the EyeProvideVibez Instagram page gives you an inside look on where to go and thrive right here in Atlanta. EyeProvideVibez sets the tone for what it means to be a “vibe”. The aura is always clear and pure. We thrive in our current surroundings, knowing that nothing in this life is promised and we must be appreciative of everything and live for the moment. EyeProvideVibez provides more than a balanced cocktail and illustrious hookah; we provide an experience. I always tell other bartenders that you have to do more then make a drink in order to stand out in this industry. The hospitality industry is so oversaturated with everyone doing the same thing, trying to get to the same place: the top. It’s up to you to stand out and show others what you’re made of. My brand promotes you to look within and provide a vibe for not only those surrounding you but for yourself first. In order to be a light for others, you have to let the light shine from within. When you “provide a vibe”, you live your live authentically knowing that the energy you put out in this world is going to come back to you ten fold. EyeProvideVibez is an all inclusive movement which encourages you to be yourself always and vibe out until you can’t vibe no more.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think what helped me the most within my current market is staying true to myself and representing my brand literally in everything that I do. From eccentric nail art to developing drink recipes catered to specific aspects of my brand, I try my best daily to be the epitome of my brand. The “eye” in EyeProvideVibez reflects the third eye and the evil eye. When your third eye is open, you are aware of your surroundings fully immersing yourself into your environment in order to grow and thrive in your oneness. I wear holistic crystals like amethyst, white quartz, chakra bracelets etc. which cleanses my energy and keeps me grounded throughout my day. My logo for my brand is literally the third eye, which urges you to live and love unceasingly knowing your spiritual guides are here to guide and protect you. I think I’ve been able to make an impact on my community simply by finding the joy in the simple things; young black creatives selling artwork on Peachtree or running across graffiti on the Westside of Atlanta saying “know your worth.” If I think it’s “vibe” worthy, it’s getting posted. If I come across a new and creative cocktail, I’m sharing it.

We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
My side hustle definitely turned into my main hustle and honestly, I am grateful for this journey. I was a senior in college, obtaining my bachelors degree in Communications and also working three jobs. I was a bartender at two different establishments and I also worked full time as a cashier at a gas station, all while being a full time student. I graduated at the peak of COVID 19 and with the world being shut down plus a lack of motivation, I never secured a job within my career field. I will admit that I was a too complacent in my current situation and the jobs were scarce as well. I worked at a few restaurants and lounges for almost two years before starting my own business. Even after I started my own business, my life was still at a halt. There was no progression in an aspect of my life. I was honestly just existing and coasting through life with no real sense of direction. My business was flourishing somewhat and I was receiving bookings but that wasn’t enough for me, I always longed for more. It wasn’t until I hit rock bottom in my opinion and I was left with nothing which prompted me to move to Atlanta and start over. I honestly didn’t have a choice but I’m grateful for that low moment. In order to grow, you have to be grounded and my life was uprooted at that time with no sense of clarity. I had to loose in order to lock in with myself and realize that I am the master of my own fate. I am the controller of my vibe. I secured two jobs in Downtown Atlanta and I moved within close proximity to those jobs, within a 2 mile radius. I let go of certain aspects of my life that didn’t push me in an upward movement. I began to love myself more and give myself and my business the love that I wasn’t receiving from the world. The decision to release fear and embrace change was the best decision I could have ever made. I hope the 21 year old version of myself sees the current me and exhales with relief and joy.
