We recently connected with Delta Williams and have shared our conversation below.
Delta , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
I’m so glad that mental health is starting to become normalized in American society. Unfortunately, the initiative to create a more accepting atmosphere for those struggling with mental health issues happened a little too late for my father. When I was 24 years old my father committed suicide and it completely devastated me. I struggled in a darkness I never thought I could overcome and fell into a deep depressive state. I even attempted to harm myself as well. Seeking spiritual and professional help and counseling literally saved my life! I learned so many things during that phase of my life thus the mission was born from my pain and suffering to help those that are in that same dark pit that I was BEFORE they make a permanent decision determined by a temporary circumstance. FREE, the NGO (non-governmental organization) is still in its infant stages however the mission is clear that we must help those struggling with depression/anxiety in a proactive position as opposed to a reactive one. Before the plan is made, before the hotline is called, and before the visit to the cliff. People must be encouraged to talk about their emotions and feelings before something tragic like what happened with my father, occurs. As a believer in Jesus Christ, FREE exists today as an online prayer ministry called Midnight Prayer Watch. Those struggling with anxiety and depression can send their prayer requests or join our live stream to receive prayer immediately. The podcast and live show are currently available on all podcast streaming platforms and on the Midnight Prayer Watch YouTube channel. Starting this online ministry has required courage and a lot of faith however the community of listeners and viewers has been engaged and supportive. My belief that praying for people’s freedom actually changes things has produced so many accounts of healing and recovery that I continue to give praise to God for how He is using me and this ministry to show His faithfulness to keep all of His promises. As believers in Jesus, we were not meant to feel hopeless but hopeful because He took all of our sorrows and grievances to the cross when He died in exchange for our eternal lives.
FREE has started its global expansion as I have relocated our headquarters from the US to Asia and planted the roots of the FREE organization in Asia preparing for our satellite locations to carry on the mission of setting people FREE!

Delta , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Struggling with depression myself for many years I started to build a deep passion for those that were suffering silently and behind closed doors like I had. What began as a huge personal battle turned into a mission to help others not suffer in the same way I had. Fortunately, and not by coincidence I have had several years of experience working in several medical specialties such as behavioral health and neurology as a clerical admin. Coupled with my work history as an operations manager it was a no-brainer for me to begin the operationalization of the FREE initiative. Working with my clients, FREE provides an outlet for those who are pre-trauma stages. Our goal is to help our clients see the symptoms of depression and anxiety before it starts to make a traumatic impact to their lives. We are very different from the run-of-the-mill psychology or psychiatry specialist as we are not offering clinical help but rather helping to equip our clients with the right mental, physical, and spiritual tools to prevent unnecessary trauma from taking place in their lives.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Our growth strategy is simple—stay true to who we are and our brand niche and the clientele will find us. It is very important to my co-founder and I that we never lose sight of who we are. We believe if we start changing our identity to meet growth targets, we may attract more clients and grow but the likelihood of those clients being retained in our business is low. Not to mention, the potential damage to our reputation that could occur. Brand identity is critical to growth and I have seen how effective our strategy has been in having the right people find us.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
It’s actually a funny story. I was volunteering at a Boys and Girls Club on a random whim to give back to the community on a Saturday and I was teaching the kids about career readiness. The training was over and all of the volunteers were supposed to have lunch I was halfway out of the door because of the early Saturday start but something told me to stay and eat the free lunch! So when I turned around there was my soon-to-be Co-Founder who I had not seen the whole time I was volunteering. After some pleasantries and exchanged introductions I asked if they were speaking on the microphone and I guess I asked the wrong questions because I received an ice glare and an even icy response after that. I quickly thought to myself I should’ve left and not stayed for lunch after all. After a week, I received a message on LinkedIn from my soon-to-be Co-Founder asking for a coffee and I thought maybe an apology was in the works. When we met for the one-sided desired apology meeting I soon found out that there was more that we had in common and business vision, passion and strategy were at the top of the list! And as they say, that was all she wrote after that hahaha!
