Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Delrose Wilkinson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Delrose, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
The most meaningful project I’ve worked on so far has been my EP project titled Momentum. It’s a personal testimony of mine that has a theme of perseverance through valley seasons and gaining strength through renewed faith in God

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’ve been apart of the music industry for all my adult life. I’ve gone from playing saxophone for calypso to doing backups for artistes to eventually becoming an artiste myself. It’s definitely been a journey outside of my comfort as it stretches me to different heights in my vocal and writing capabilities. My experience through being in the performing arts over the years has really carved a passion in me to keep striving for better. I try to attain excellence in every part of my life and practice retrospection time to time. My support group has been phenomenal thus far in assisting me to reach my goals. I believe my authenticity sets me apart in what I do because I focus more on messaging in my music and writing as a priority. I believe music is very spiritual and in so I allow God to channel positive and enlightening art through me. I care genuinely about what my followers consume and I hope to always serve enriched substance to them.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One lesson I definitely had to unlearn is always wanting control. I’ve been quite a perfectionist and detailed about everything and when circumstances turn out differently it would be such a huge blow to my emotional state. I learned to do what I can and allow God to tailor the rest beyond my control. When things turn differently I’m now fluid enough to flow with it. It always turns out even better than I would of planned.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal in music is to add light, show light and be light. Music has been so dark these days and as a reflection out society absorbs the dimness. My purpose on this earth is to be light where ever I go and in what ever I do. Whether that looks like encouragement, kindness or generosity I aim to show the love of Christ in all I do. Show followers and other artistes that there is another way we can be expressive. Music has the power to influence a shift in society for the better and I hope to be apart of that shift.
