We recently connected with DELILA CASTRO and have shared our conversation below.

DELILA, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?

My most meaningful project thus far has been my podcast “The Bloom Podcast”. where we discuss self-development, wellness, and evolution. It gives local Houston women the opportunity to come onto my the platform to share their story. The Bloom Podcast was intended to be a safe space to have an open dialogue with our guest to share their journey, titles, accomplishments and to keep inspiring the next woman. Our guest vary from entrepreneurs, advocates, artist, business owners local vendors, local influencers and many more. Not only do the guest get to share their success story but also their life journey, which makes the episode that more intimate with our listening audience.

DELILA, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

What started off as a self-development blog to hosting women empowerment events in the Houston area, lead to me beginning The Bloom Podcast. As a content creator I’ve had the opportunity to work with various brand, be a part of great experiences and work with local women who have the same interest as me. My journey began in 2020 during the pandemic as a blogger. I have always been passionate about creating content and at that time I found journaling to be very therapeutic, So I put both together and began my self-development blog called “with love, Delila” where I shared my life experiences and navigating through my self-development journey. My blog touched many women and the amount of feedback I got from my followers empowered me to not only engage with women online, but also offline, which lead me to created “MeMi Empowerment” ( @memiempowerment ).

MeMi Empowerment is a platform that helps bring local Houston women together through events, such as pop-up shops, networking events, vision board events and more. MeMi’s goal is to help creatives, business owners, advocates, artist, vendors, and more, to give them the exposure and come together by networking through events. From here I took on my next project which is “The Bloom Podcast” going from in person to audio and on the screens of YouTube. My mission was to now give these same women the opportunity to share their journey on a platform that focuses on empowering women and giving them their flowers.

Have you ever had to pivot?

My journey consist of many pivotal moments, pivoting is something I’ve mastered in the last year which I’m very proud of. I manage my all my brands, bot front-end and back-end work. I am also self-taught which comes with trials and error, moments of growth, and most of all pivotal moments. My biggest pivotal moment was putting MeMi Empowerment on pause to pursue The Bloom Podcast because of funding. I fund all of my projects and MeMi was becoming a bit difficult to manage on my own. So I thought to myself “how can I still give these women exposure/platform that reaches other women?” and that is how I created The Bloom Podcast. Yes a pivotal moment, but a blessing in the making!

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?

My creative journey is driven by my mission to help women during their journey, to the best of my ability. If that’s mentorship, sharing resources, a platform to share their journey, words of encouragement, sharing my journey, extending my network and anything God puts on my heart. I enjoy sharing my time and space with like-minded women and women who come from different walks of life.
