Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Delfina Soto. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Delfina, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
One of the most memorable projects I’ve worked for in my career was while being part of the Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt team working on the campaign to celebrate Oreo’s birthday cookie, commemorating years of Oreo’s delicious presence in the market. This campaign holds a special place in my heart as it allowed me to contribute my graphic design skills and collaborate with a fantastic team to create a fun and engaging experience for our audience.
As a member of Menchie’s team, I was involved in various aspects of the campaign, from conceptualization to execution. We wanted to honor Oreo’s milestone by offering a unique frozen yogurt flavor that captured the essence of the iconic Oreo cookie.
My role as a graphic designer was pivotal in bringing the campaign to life. I was responsible for designing visually appealing marketing materials, including posters, digital advertisements, social media graphics, and other promotional collateral. These materials showcased the mouthwatering collaboration between Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt and the Oreo birthday cookie flavor.
The campaign was a resounding success, capturing the attention and enthusiasm of Oreo and Menchie’s fans alike. The limited-edition flavor became a hit, driving increased foot traffic to Menchie’s stores and creating a buzz on social media platforms. It was truly gratifying to witness the positive response from customers who were thrilled to indulge in the delightful combination of Menchie’s frozen yogurt and the beloved Oreo cookie.
Being part of the Menchie’s team during this project was incredibly meaningful to me because it allowed me to contribute my design expertise to a campaign that resonated with our audience. It demonstrated the power of collaboration, creativity, and strategic marketing in delivering a memorable and enjoyable experience to customers.
Moreover, the project provided valuable insights and learnings about the dynamic nature of the food and beverage industry, as well as the importance of creating engaging visuals and messaging that align with the brand’s values and resonate with customers’ preferences.
Delfina, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
It all began during my years of studying for a bachelor’s degree in advertising when I discovered my true passion for the creative aspects of communication. That realization ignited a fire within me, propelling me towards a fulfilling career in design.
My adventure started at We-Tag, a renowned Argentinean travel agency, where I had the opportunity to dive into the world of hospitality design. It was here that I honed my skills, creating captivating visuals that showcased allure of various travel destinations. From designing banners and posters to crafting eye-catching decals, I relished the chance to bring the agency’s marketing materials to life.
I then later joined the dynamic team at Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt in Los Angeles. It was an exhilarating experience as I delved into the realm of digital and print design, supporting over 400 franchisees in their marketing endeavors. From national flavor campaigns to exciting collaborations with iconic brands, I poured my creativity into every project, adding a touch of magic to Menchie’s promotions.
Driven by my passion for design, I ventured further into the realm of interior design by joining Jiti, a prestigious home decor company. It was an opportunity to immerse myself in the world of marketing collateral, social media, and pattern design for pillows. Working with esteemed clients and even celebrity residences, I felt a sense of pride knowing that my designs contributed to creating stunning spaces. From concept to execution, I poured my heart and soul into every detail, ensuring that each piece resonated with our discerning clientele.
Throughout my journey, I have embraced the role of a lead graphic designer with fervor and dedication. Managing social media accounts, creating engaging content, overseeing e-commerce platforms, and delivering high-quality designs have been crucial aspects of my work. I take pride in my ability to translate ideas into visually captivating creations that leave a lasting impact on audiences.
With each new project, I strive to surpass expectations, bringing forth fresh ideas, innovative concepts, and impeccable attention to detail. I am humbled by the recognition I have received from both my peers and the industry. It has been a testament to the impact of my work. It is an honor to be recognized for my contributions and to be celebrated among talented artists and creators.
As I continue to evolve and grow as a graphic designer, I am excited for what lies ahead. I am determined to make a meaningful impact, solve problems through design, and leave a legacy that inspires others in the industry. With each new project, I am fueled by the satisfaction of creating something remarkable and making a difference through my craft.
Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
As a creative, there are certain aspects of my journey that may be challenging for non-creatives to fully comprehend. One of these challenges lies in the creative process itself. Non-creatives may struggle to understand the depth of thought, ideation, and iteration that goes into creating something meaningful and impactful. The hours spent brainstorming, experimenting, and refining ideas can be difficult to grasp for those who haven’t experienced it firsthand.
Additionally, as a designer, my creations are an extension of myself, reflecting my unique perspective and personal expression. Each project holds a piece of my passion, creativity, and dedication. Non-creatives may not fully understand the emotional connection I have with my work and the fulfillment I derive from bringing ideas to life.
Furthermore, the constant pursuit of inspiration and the need for a creative environment can be challenging for non-creatives to comprehend. Creativity thrives in an atmosphere that fosters imagination, encourages experimentation, and embraces unconventional thinking. Non-creatives may struggle to grasp the importance of seeking inspiration from various sources, exploring different mediums, and continuously pushing boundaries to create innovative and captivating designs.
Lastly, non-creatives may find it difficult to understand the continuous evolution and growth that comes with being a creative. The creative field is ever-changing, with new technologies, trends, and techniques emerging regularly. Non-creatives may not realize the importance of staying current, constantly learning, and adapting to industry advancements to remain relevant and deliver impactful work.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
In my view, there are several ways that society can best support artists, creatives, and a thriving creative ecosystem. I believe it is essential to recognize and value the contributions of artists and creatives to society. This includes celebrating their work, acknowledging their impact, and promoting a greater understanding and appreciation for the arts. This recognition can be fostered through public exhibitions, performances, and events that showcase the diverse talents within the creative community. Another way is, providing access to affordable and inclusive spaces for artists to create, exhibit, and collaborate is crucial. This includes supporting the development and maintenance of art studios, galleries, theaters, and community spaces where artists can freely express themselves and connect with audiences.
