Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Delfina Correia. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Delfina, thanks for joining us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
In 2023, my world was upended with the loss of my mother. Her passing was a profound moment of reflection, and it became clear to me that I needed to be in a new environment and closer to family. Miami, where my loved ones were, began to feel like the place I needed to be.
During this period of introspection, I found myself reassessing my life’s direction. After 20 successful years as a banking director, overseeing 18 retail locations across New York and Miami, I knew it was time for a significant change. I had always nurtured a passion for health and wellness, and the idea of entrepreneurship had been a dream I kept on the back burner.
When the opportunity to purchase a franchise in ProsperIV came along, it felt like a sign. The idea of opening an IV hydration business in Miami resonated deeply with me. It was more than just a career move; it was a chance to align my work with my passion, to make a difference in people’s lives, and to start a new chapter surrounded by family.
Leaving behind my established role in banking was not a decision I took lightly. It was a leap into the unknown, filled with risks and uncertainties. But sometimes, following your gut feeling is the only way forward. With a mix of excitement and apprehension, I made the decision to move to Miami and embark on this new journey.
ProsperIV Miami became more than just a business venture—it was a way for me to honor my mother’s memory, embrace a new beginning, and turn my long-held dreams into reality. The process of starting the business was challenging, but it also brought a profound sense of purpose and fulfillment.
Opening ProsperIV Miami was not just a professional milestone; it was a personal victory, a testament to the power of taking risks and following your heart. In the end, it was the right decision, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to build something meaningful in a city that feels like home.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Fourteen years ago, I faced one of the toughest challenges of my life while battling thyroid cancer. After enduring two surgeries, radiation treatments, and the difficult adjustment to new thyroid medication, I felt completely drained and struggled to regain my strength. It was during this trying period that a compassionate nurse introduced me to IV hydration, explaining how it could boost my energy and aid in my recovery. Experiencing firsthand the relief and revitalization that IV hydration provided deepened my respect for healthcare professionals and sparked a profound desire within me to help others feel better.
This journey shaped my commitment to advocating for the benefits of IV hydration. When the opportunity arose earlier this year to become a franchise owner of ProsperIV, it felt like a perfect fit for my passion and personal mission. I’ve always believed that life’s greatest rewards come from embracing challenges and stepping out of our comfort zones. With ProsperIV, I’m excited to bring one of the few brick-and-mortar locations in Miami offering IV vitamin therapy. This venture is not just a business for me; it’s a chance to share the incredible benefits I’ve experienced and help others on their path to better health.
Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
Besides knowledge and training, the most helpful factor for succeeding in the IV hydration business is exceptional customer care. This includes understanding and addressing clients’ individual needs, building trust, and providing a supportive and reassuring experience. Personalized care and effective communication can significantly enhance client satisfaction and loyalty, leading to positive word-of-mouth and repeat business.
Additionally, staying adaptable and responsive to industry trends and client feedback helps you refine services and maintain a competitive edge. Building a knowledgeable and skilled team who shares your commitment to quality care is also crucial for ensuring consistent, high-quality service. Together, these elements create a strong foundation for success in the IV hydration business
Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Managing a team and maintaining high morale require a blend of effective leadership, clear communication, and genuine support. Here’s my advice:
Foster Open Communication: Create an environment where team members feel comfortable sharing their ideas, concerns, and feedback. Regular check-ins and open-door policies help ensure everyone feels heard and valued.
Set Clear Goals and Expectations: Clearly define roles, responsibilities, and goals. When team members understand what’s expected and how their contributions fit into the bigger picture, they’re more likely to stay motivated and focused.
Recognize and Celebrate Achievements: Regularly acknowledge and celebrate individual and team accomplishments. Recognition can be as simple as a verbal compliment or as formal as awards and incentives. Celebrating milestones boosts morale and reinforces a sense of achievement.
Provide Opportunities for Growth: Support your team’s professional development by offering training, mentorship, and career advancement opportunities. Investing in their growth shows that you’re committed to their success and helps keep them engaged.
Encourage Work-Life Balance: Promote a healthy work-life balance by respecting personal time and encouraging flexibility when needed. A well-balanced team is more productive and maintains higher morale.
