We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Delaya Diana a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Delaya, thanks for joining us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?

I first called my company Artistry of Horses, it was pretty ‘open’ to all manor of horse people, and then decided to narrow it down as it became clear that I needed more of a target audience. So I called it The eQUESTrian Camino, after the Camino de Santiago because my work with horses is very much based on the spiritual journey between horses and humans. But there was still ‘something’ not right.

At the same time, I kept feeling the presence of a horse that had passed, and I couldn’t understand why he was connecting with me during this time. I did an exercise that I call the Answer Quest, and found the answer. My horse that passed was called Eli, but his registered name was True North. This became clear that this was to be the name of my business.

Because of this I began to incorporate more Animal Communication into my business, this is now the main focus of my work.

Delaya, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I have always felt more animal than human. Around animals I feel calmer, more at home in my own skin, I feel like animals understand me, and I them. My main career most of my life was a hairdresser, and I was good at it, but I always wished I could be around animals more, especially horses. In my 30’s I got my first horse. This began my awakening into the vast spiritual connection between horses and humans. Now days, equine assisted learning and therapy is becoming mainstream, its benefits are widely documented.

I believe the next frontier between horses and humans is the spiritual journey, horses are different than most animals humans connect with. I have dogs, cant imagine a life without them, but the horses draw me into a mystery that invites soulful dialogue, and this is where my soul finds its tribe.

In addition to Readings with animals, i.e. communication, I offer Quest classes on learning your agreements with your horse/animal, I have a Quest class on Wild Partnership, on humans returning to their wild nature, I have a Namaste Quest, about recognizing and honoring the Divine within our animals so that we find common ground. I also design custom Quest work based on a Reading with your animal, and my signature course is The Secret World of Horses, an in depth Quest exploring the relationship and insight available between the world of horses and humans.

I am most proud of my ability to connect with animals through channeled Readings, the depth and insight that they tell me is profoundly brilliant. Most horses are deeply committed to supporting their human, other animals cover a wide range of dialogue about their human.

As we evolve into this next frontier of incorporating animals with our spiritual journey I believe we will become wiser and better humans, and animals will be supported as a catalyst for spiritual growth.

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?

Trust yourself. I wish I had listened and trusted what I heard from animals. I always thought I was a bit crazy and kept this part of myself to myself. This was a huge injustice, for me and for the animals I speak with, and the humans that are looking for answers and connection with their animal.

Trusting yourself, is big. Its easy to place your trust in others, especially those that have control over you, these are the most dangerous people to trust in. Even if their intentions are good, it is not their place to decide and discern who you are and what you are called to do.

Trust what calls to you. Trust that this is your truth and your purpose, your dharma. In the end, its your life, do not waste it living someone elses opinion of you.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?

I posted on SM quotes from Readings with animals. For a couple of years they were mostly met with silence, people that knew me could not embrace this side of me, to them, I was just a hairdresser. I kept posting and in time the brilliance from these Readings began to speak for themselves.

I added endorsements from people that had me communicate with their animal, and these had a profound effect towards substantiating my posts.

My work is different because its main focus is on the spiritual aspect of animals and humans, and I used to dilute it so that it would more readily be accepted, but this did not work. I finally posted boldly what animals communicate with me and this has gathered more followers. And, I still have lots of ‘silent lurkers’ that randomly contact me privately about something I posted or about working with me. I have learned to just speak the truth given me by animals and let that stand on its own.
