We recently connected with Del Ro’Yale and have shared our conversation below.
Del Ro’Yale, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I always knew that I wanted to do music but didn’t know if I wanted to have a creative career. At seven years old, I taught myself how to play piano, started singing and writing songs for fun. That carried all the way through my teenage years when I started to record myself producing in middle school. Mid teenage years I worked with a good friend name Raynard Wilson who I was introduced by my mom. Started doing artist development, writing, and recording with him and during that process it confirmed it I could see myself having a creative career. I just didn’t know which belt I wanted to be under at that time.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a singer, songwriter, Vocal Producer and R&B/Pop artist based in Virginia. I am a storyteller artist and really love to make listeners feel and visualize while listening to my music taking you to another place.
I have been making music since 2011. I started to record a lot on my mom’s desktop when I was at home as a teenager. After doing some research, and with some knowledge from others, I was able to purchase my own recording equipment and take it to the next level and from there I started recording myself at home and learning how to mix alittle music and vocal produce.
My overall goal when it comes to music is to put music out in this world that people can relate to, enjoy themselves feeling however they want to feel and go to when they feel like they have no one else to talk to even if it’s not me as the artist. Music something that has stuck with me my whole life and also has been there for me when I felt alone.
Right now I am proud of myself taking the step to be more vulnerable when creating because I realize that’s what makes the best music. That is the path that I am pushing myself to do more of because the result is always good. My music isn’t just played within the unit. It states I have listeners around the world and I’m grateful for everyone that tunes into my music. Gift and being a creative is not just for me it’s not all about me. I’m supposed to be using this to be able to shine light on the world and connect with people on a different level.
I am now creating music where I want the listen to feel confident emotionally. There is an emotional connection when it comes to music when it comes to me and being human I can understand that it is hard to be vulnerable with our emotions I have gone through it myself. Being unapologetically yourself is the wave.
I don’t fully know what separates me from other people, but I will say from most what separates me is sesame being my authentic self which is something I feel like everyone to do because we are all unique. I am who I am I love who I am to me that’s the separation between me. I’m not in competition with anybody but myself, because I want to be the greatest within myself and for myself not for anybody else, and take that and be an example.
My music is currently on all streaming platforms right now and I have new music coming
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative individual is the ability to express emotions and relate to others. Music is an outlet for me and I would think everyone in the world. Transforming real-life experiences and conversations into art giving someone a space to be vulnerable and have something sonically/lyrically pleasing is me is fulfilling. Hearing that my art has resonated with some people is truly rewarding and I want to continue doing that with my gift and artistry while also letting it be a way for me to express emotions.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
The goal for me is to add timeless and meaningful music in this world and to relate to those that feel like they don’t have a voice or can’t/ don’t know how to express themselves. I do aspire to get Grammys throughout my career but my primary goal is to add timeless music within this world and work with those that genuinely want the same goal as well. These goals drive my creative endeavors and motivate me as I strive to make a meaningful impact with my artistry.
