Del, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I Knew music was for me when I was able to create stories within my music. When my listeners could visualize and experience the feelings I had in my music and passion for the craft.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Originally from the Caribbean, the island of Dominica, but I reside in Houston, Texas. I was around in and out of music from a young age growing up. from my siblings buying CD, or my dad listening to his vinyl players, music always cultivated me so much that I was always trying to dub cassettes to listen to music on my own time. What sets me apart from other artist is my sound and the versatility to switch between different genres, whether R&B, Hip Hop, or Afro/dancehall. The most important thing for me is to allow listeners or fans to understand my music and the stories or pictures I’m trying to put out, from my creative mind. If some can relate or go through some scenario, or even my music can just help and sooth a situation, is what i think i can be more proud of.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I would love to say that if my music or voice can put a fan, followers, or another artist in a trance, is what would be most rewarding for me, if my music can touch some part of you
where it feels like I touched your soul is what moves me to keep doing what I’m doing as an artist.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I started a whole new social media page and started adding friends, hoped on forums, communities, and just simply asked people to share.
my advice would be to make business cards or flyers and go around and promote yourself, either to it yourself and get a street team and grind to build up the followers.
