We were lucky to catch up with DeJuana “COACH DEE” Price recently and have shared our conversation below.
DeJuana “COACH DEE”, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Setting up an independent practice is a daunting endeavor. Can you talk to us about what it was like for you – what were some of the main steps, challenges, etc.
After years of having an occupation, I took a leap and pursued PURPOSE!
There has been nothing more fulfilling than assisting others on their healing journey to overcome trauma.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Prior to the pandemic I had undergone a mental transformation. I addressed years of trauma and did the necessary work to be an OVERCOMER!
When the pandemic hit, I was released from my job in the 3rd round of layoffs so I decided to take a life coaching course. Along with the certification course I also took a NLP course (Neurolingistic Programming).
I had previously studied theology and was very active in ministry. I believed that I was called to be a minister. However, nothing aligned with my being more than the position I hold today. Life Coach and Healer!
After becoming certified I began to work with several clients with different levels of trauma. I specialize in those relating to sexual abuse as that is an area that I have overcome.
I now coach and counsel in various areas focusing on healing, accountability and after-care (Post-healing Maintenance).
I have graduated several students from my program with major successes. I am now working on a talk show pilot with the vision to bring healing into living rooms, dens and man caves everywhere.
I am most proud of the fact that I have overcome adversity and fully walk in my purpose. What I want most for people to gain from my story is that accountability is our super power and that “blame has no place in the healing process. My coaching and courses will illuminate this for anyone who seeks to be whole.
I am equally as proud of the release of my first book “Who’s Lovin You Boo?” A Guide to Healing and Self-Love. I toured several cities with it speaking about the effects of trauma and how LOVE heals all.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I spent years of my life being hyper sensitive and easily offended. I thought people could be so mean and this was due to being taught that “words cut deep” therefore unkind words would cut me to the core. When I embarked upon my healing journey, I discovered that words are inanimate and only have the feeling that I applied to them. I could have saved myself years of pain if I had realized that sooner.
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
Love is the answer. Compassion, empathy and concern must exist for yourself first in order to effectively coach and counsel others. This vocation is best served from a place of wholeness!
