We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Deja Love a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Deja, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
I’ve been in law enforcement for almost 11 years now. First as a 911 dispatcher , now as a commissioned peace officer in Harris County. I thought my Instagram handle is so catchy…. (Thenailcop) I just couldn’t let it go. So then I incorporated my professional life into my LLC and came up with Kuffed Nails… got the nail game on lock!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I decided to venture into nails simply by having a love for the creativity and artistry in it. I loved doing my own nails as well so I enrolled myself into school. My goal was to have fun and aid in women feeling beautiful and confident, when you look good you feel good! I pay for top quality products to provide top quality services such as gel-x, structured manicures and acrylic enhancements. I believe investing in quality products makes a huge difference in the services you provide as they are easier to work with and make for lasting nails. I get clients from all walks of life and take time to really ask and analyze what it is my customer wants and what would be best for their lifestyles. Everytime I do a set a nails I improve and gain knowledge to create a better experience at their next appointment. I’m proud of how far I’ve come and I know I still have a long way to go. I never stop learning! I want my clients to know that I’m transparent, authentic, and passionate about their service. I aim to provide a professional environment that’s also comfortable and fun and allows for a a lot of laughter and a great time!!!!

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Most definitely social media with word of mouth coming in second!

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Being afraid of failure. I wish I would’ve have believed in myself more started earlier, but I was to scared to fall on my face!!! I realize now that failure is apart of the process!
