We were lucky to catch up with Deidra Holley recently and have shared our conversation below.

Deidra, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?

In previous years, I’ve curated birthday celebrations and private dinner events for family and friends. Coordinating events was my happy place. At first, I did not take it seriously as I should but with encouragement from friends, my supportive partner Solgie and mom Maureen , Yard Gal Picnics and Events was created.

The name derives from my Jamaican background, I thought it would represent who I am and where I came from.

Yard Gal Picinics and Events mission is to create the best possible experience and decor for you and your guests. We curate experiences that are visually stunning, carefully crafted and most importantly stress free to our valued clients.
Our goal is to make their visions come to life and make their dream a reality.

I am most proud of the journey and making my client’s heart smile. It’s very fulfilling when you know that you are a part of the beautiful memories your clients will hold dearly.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?

Recommendation by word of mouth plays a major source of new clients even though we are living in a social media era.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

Paying attention to finer details, being punctual, and effective communication with clients.
