We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Deidra Craig. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Deidra below.
Deidra, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?
After I completed my undergraduate studies, I immediately went job hunting. Most places weren’t hiring at the time and I spent a lot of time “upskilling”. In other words, I was learning new skills to make my resume more desirable. I thought it would be nice to really work on my writing and keep things fresh, so I started a blog.
Blogs were such a big thing back then and it was one of the easiest ways to share helpful resources and life experiences. I didn’t know a lot about anything, so the simplest thing for me to do was talk about myself and more specifically, about my beauty routine. It spiraled into posts about my haircare routine, then I started getting questions about my skincare routine and by 2016, Instagram became my platform for sharing my passion for beauty and fashion. I’m obsessed with fashion. I love dressing up. It makes me feel good and it’s one of the few ways I can really express myself. More specifically, I’m obsessed with colorful fashion. I think one thing that made me feel like I could succeed as a content creator was bringing my passion for colorful fashion and meshing it with a positive message about body positivity.
I feel all women should wear what they feel and color is not excluded from this. Growing up, I was always told curvier women should wear colors that are dark and don’t draw too much attention to them, but dark colors are really the exact opposite of my personality. I want to share the message of being fearless, dressing bold and expressing how you feel. All colors are for all women and so I’ve made it my mission to use my platform to help women feel their best in any color.
This passion for motivating women and people in general lead me to “upskill” and learn more about photography. My husband and I have been successfully running our photography business for over a decade. We specialize in portrait, wedding, fashion and family photography.

Deidra, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Simply put, I want women of all shapes and sizes to feel their best dressed in any color. Once I started my blog, I realized I needed to learn photography in order to produce quality content. I took a few photography classes and now my husband and I run a successful photography business. We specialize in family, wedding, fashion and portrait photography. My husband also shoots all of my content for my blog and social media.
I want our photography clients to know that they will comfortable shooting with us. We are people-centered photographers that work hard to help clients look and feel their best. If they book us, it will be a fun time and we always capture the most creative shots.
As a content creator, I want clients and brands to know that, I am my most authentic self, I work hard and am very professional. I take my platform very seriously because there are women out their that need to know that they shouldn’t be afraid to dress in color. I want to spread the word that color is for any and everyone and that when we look good, we feel good. Also, we should always dress how we feel.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Helping women look and feel their best and helping my photography clients look and feel their best. I am such a big cheerleader, so many of my posts on social media not only share a bit about my life, but also have bits of encouragement to help people who are reading make it through the day. At the end of the day, I love helping people and connecting with people. I do this through my social media platforms and through shooting clients at their most precious moments.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
The main goal is to give people, and specifically women, the confidence they need to succeed and I do that through my love of photography and fashion.
