We recently connected with Dehe’Miah and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Dehe’Miah thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
Yes, I wish I would’ve started a lot sooner than what I have, because I would be a lot further than what I am right now in my opinion. I had turned away from it when my brother was murdered 7 years ago. He was my biggest support system when it came to music and singing and performing. Once I lost him I felt there was no longer a need for music.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Dehe’Miah (Dee-huh-Myuh) I’m an Aquarius, I’m 30 years old and I’m a Singer/Songwriter out of Kansas City Missouri. I have been fully in the music industry since 2020 but I have been singing and recording since I was a young pre teen. I started writing my own music when I was 13 years old. I have done features with a lot of dope artist in Kansas City and other states such as: Yung Cat, Miss Kush, Roblo DaStar, KC Young Boss, Lefty T-Rone, King Tut, Kyle Fxctz, Maunte Carlo, Cuzz Cuzz, Marz Blakc, Ms. Erikka, Hood Classikz, Tae93, D-Macalous, Tez Montana, Poppa Willo, J Skeez, C-Bo, Nicholle, & Kae Gee. I have won Best Male R&B Artist in the All Missouri Music Awards in 2K21 and 2K22 and I was also a finalist in the Kansas City People’s Choice Awards for Best Male Vocalist in 2K23. When it comes to my music I’d like to classify it as R&B/Hiphop due to I can get on some Joe Thomas and Case vibes and I can also take it to Ginuwine and Chris Brown vibes. My music is authentic… Everything I put in my music is absolutely me lol. I’ve been thru, lived it, experienced it, etc. I really just want people to be able to relate to my music and personality because I can go from lovey dovey, to let’s get nasty and freaky, to I can’t stand you, to can I get your number, to let’s go on a date, and so forth typical everyday life.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Stop trying to put everyone against each other. Pay Artist what they are worth, especially those that can produce a crowd and bring business. Stop doing these outrageous numbers on these slot fees on these LOCAL shows.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
