We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Defacto Thezpian. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Defacto below.
Defacto, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I had started dabbling in music a bit during my time in high-school. Did a lot during those 4 years as far as output but wouldn’t say that I really took it seriously. My main focus was theatre and acting. Music was more of a fun creative output that I felt I was good at. After graduating from high-school, I begun to do live performances. Pay to play shows and whatnot.
About a couple years after, I made my first ever album. The bodies of work before were comprised of mixtapes and EPs. So, of course I had to do a album release show. It was only right.
Prior to that, I had had a few people come out to my shows but it was nothing major. 20 people or less each time. For the album release show though, I went all out on promoting it around the city. Putting up flyers, talking to people on the streets and even business owners. First time ever asking a venue to host a show or ever putting on a show for that matter. I reached out to folks for sponsorships and the whole nine.
The night of, I just wanted to focus on giving the best performance I could. 9 or 9,000 people. I was prepared. So, the night begins and I’m backstage the entire time just prepping, not focusing on the attendance. Midnight, I walk out to do my set and to my surprise we had sold out the venue. With people still trying to walk in as I was just starting to perform.
That.. was the moment. The moment I knew and decided to take music seriously.

Defacto, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
” Defacto Thezpian ” means Real Actor. As I said, I begun music while mainly focusing on theatre. I try to bring that stage experience and energy to my music and performances. While, also, making sure I focus on lyricism, story telling and being honest about myself. In hopes that somebody or anybody will hear my tales and relate somehow.
I produce, song write, rap and whatever else is needed from me. Women. Family. Emotional issues. Having fun. Anything that happens to me in the real world, I try to write about. Don’t worry.. my stuff is catchy too haha.
To be honest.. I suck at describing what I do. I’m a show and prove kind of artist. Take a listen, if you don’t like it I’ll owe you money.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
To be the best at what I do. To become one of the greatest to ever do it.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Consistency. That’s the main thing. Not just consistency of posting and of music but of quality too. What you establish early on is what your fans and followers will begin to expect from you. The better the quality AND consistency of that quality from that point on will help tremendously on your journey.
Maintain great relationships. Don’t be a jerk. Be willing to learn. Surround yourself with people better at what you do and whome are also driven to succeed. This road will have a LOT of hiccups and will take perseverance. At the end it’s on you.
