We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful DeeZire. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with DeeZire below.
Hi DeeZire, thanks for joining us today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
We spent a lot of time learning the craft of songwriting. We wanted to learn how to not only tell stories but relatable ones through song. We mainly write about love and different aspects of being in love and finding love. We studied artists like Stevie Wonder, Smokie Robinson, and Babyface to name a few. It was important to us that we wrote about things that we were actually experiencing and/or going through because we knew that we weren’t the only ones going through the things we were experiencing and relaying through song. We wanted to reach the person that is going through everyday emotions and problems whether it be happy, sad, mad, and etc.
DeeZire, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
We are a R&B/Pop duo. What sets us apart from other groups is our sound, and our willingness to be vulnerable in our music. DeeZire has been together for years and we continue to grow as artists and songwriters.
We have released two amazing EP’s “Love Therapy and “Love Zone”. Both projects are very different, but both projects give our audience a direct view of DeeZire music.
We love sharing our everyday experiences through our music. We write our music being our authentic selves and that’s what connects with our audience.
We are most proud of the music we have created. To be able to create a body of work that taps into the emotions of someone is very rewarding as an artist.
DeeZire has achieved a lot through hard work, persistence, and dedication. We want our fans to know we will continue to be ourselves, and continue to make quality music.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is we get to share our personal experiences with people that can relate to what we are going through. It’s very much like therapy because we have to process our feelings and translate them to song. Things that we normally wouldn’t be able to tell people or want to necessarily tell people close to us we are able to just write about it. Then we get to hear from different people how they were just going through the same thing and our song helped them pull through a certain situation. To us that is one of the most gratifying things that can happen to us as artists. Knowing that we were able to not only deal with our own situation but help someone else pull through their situation.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
We had to unlearn following what the crowd was doing and how they were making music. We had to learn to stay true to ourselves and our sound no matter what. We would always have different producers and other music artists tell us that we should be making music that sounded like what was currently on the radio. We didn’t necessarily believe we needed to do that because we had our own sound and could write our own songs. We love harmonies and that very pure sounding R&B. Instead of focusing on what other artists were doing with their sound we decided to focus on what we could do to stay true to our own sound.
