Not Found Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
I’ve been passionate about health and fitness for years now. I love staying active and moving, primarily through rock climbing, hiking, and HIIT workouts. I’ve created fun workouts for friends, neighbors, and colleagues here and there but I have been wanting to transition into the field officially and professionally for the past couple years. I currently work full time as a project engineer but a few months ago, I finally started working toward my dream of immersing myself in the world of fitness by studying for the personal training exam and earning my certification. This certification allowed me to start leading workout classes officially at a rock climbing gym where I now work part time. Balancing two jobs is definitely a challenge, but it is worth it to be able to pursue what makes me happy and helps me give back to the fitness community in a meaningful way.

I’m originally from the east coast but made my way to the desert in 2017 and haven’t looked back since. I’m currently working full time as a project engineer and part time at a rock climbing gym where I also lead group workout classes. I recently earned my personal training certification and am excited about the opportunities to connect and work with others to help them achieve their fitness goals. I particularly love high intensity, full body, cardio-focused workouts with a variety of functional movements that target major muscle groups but can’t wait to tailor these workouts and programs to the specific needs and desires of each individual. I’m most proud of having finally committed to pursuing this passion of mine so that I can support others in reaching their health and fitness goals. I have wanted this for years and always kept putting it off or telling myself that
Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
Aside from training and knowledge, I believe that passion is the single most important element for success in any field. You have to love what you do, and it needs to show, if you’re going to convince others to hire you, to buy your product, to work with you, etc. “Fake it til you make it” will only take you so far, but passion is the one thing that you can’t fake, it’s the not-so-secret ingredient to success.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Connecting with others on a personal level is easily the best and most effective way to build clientele. Actively listening, remembering small details, and making others feel seen, heard, respected, and appreciated goes further than any kind of branding, tagline, or promotional strategy. Understanding someone’s vision and earning their trust that you are the right person to help them realize it is key to expanding your customer base.
