We were lucky to catch up with Dee Frias recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Dee thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you share a customer success story with us?
A lot of my customers are healthcare workers. They work 12hrs shifts and sometimes even more. One customer wrote to me to say my headband stayed on her entire shift, didn’t slip off or cause headaches unlike the other headbands she has bought. If something I make can make another persons day a little more better than that’s the whole point in my business.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Dee and I am a proud pug mom of two and married to my wonderful husband. I created BearyBands on hopes to finally have a headband stay on my head as well as make a little extra income while I finished up my bachelors degree. I went through a lot of fabric to find what works best and also taught myself how to sew. I absolutely love going to fabric stores and looking for unique prints to bring to my customers. From runners, to healthcare workers I will have the perfect headband. I always wanted my business to have an impact on the community and when covid hit, a lot of healthcare workers needed relief for their ears. Mission #saveyourears happened in 2020 with sewing buttons on the side of her bands for masks to stay on to help essential workers through their long shifts. Buttons are here to stay and is requested often at no extra charge. The journey has been amazing with so much support from repeat customers.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I think for everyone who wants to build an audience for a small business on social media is to let your friends and family know so they can follow you and then they spread the word. Building a presence take time so don’t expect it all to happen overnight. Be patient. Create great content.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think what helped build my reputation within my market is being authentic in my work. I also feel by doing pop-up markets and people can see my headbands and feel how great they are built my reputation. Also other small business who support me and shout me out or recommend me to their followers helps so much!
