Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dee Dee Gorman. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Dee Dee, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
When I first began my schooling as a Holistic Wellness Practitioner, I thought for sure I would go into the tangible, science-y side of this field and become an herbalist. I took a variety of courses ranging from herbalism, aromatherapy, and nutrition. Everything changed when I was able to get into a psychic development course. I had no idea what I was getting into, I just signed up for everything my college had to offer. The first day, we learned to feel energy fields. This was a brand new experience for me as I’d never really attempted it before. I’d heard of auras and chakras as things you could see or sense, but I had no idea you could actually feel them, with your very own hands! This encounter was completely overwhelming. I wanted so badly to “get it right” that I internally invalidated my own experience of what I was feeling, and HOW I perceive energy. I became overwhelmed with panic and broke down in tears on the floor. I was embarrassed. I thought everyone was judging me. Moreover, I knew I would certainly get an F and that the instructor assumed I was stupid, a fraud, incapable of completing any of the work. I didn’t belong there. I never wanted to go back.
But for some reason, I did. I went back every week for the entirety of the course. I felt a pull from inside that I couldn’t explain, and I wanted to learn more of it. I was ravenous. This short development course blew open every door of possibility that I never knew was there, and I stepped through them all. And all the while, I had absolutely no idea what I was doing, and no awareness of whether or not I was doing anything “right.” Yet I kept going. Everything changed as a result. I went deeper into the intangible, the unseen, and became an energy practitioner and intuitive instead. And I’ve never looked back.
The biggest lesson in all this time was learning to trust myself.
I’ll never forget my very last day in class. The instructor that I assumed for all these weeks believed I was a fraud, hugged me close and said, “You’re going to continue with this work, right? Please say yes. You’ve GOT it, kid.”

Dee Dee, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m an energy healing practitioner, intuitive guide, reiki master, and tarot reader. I offer a lot of services and customize my methods and modalities to meet clients where they are in their journey. I work one-on-one with clients to achieve physical and emotional wellness, process trauma, relieve and manage stress, address physical ailments, and transition through all the peaks and valleys of life. My offerings include energy healing sessions that are my own blend of Reiki and Healing Touch techniques, and may also utilize sound or crystal vibrations. I offer intuitive coaching sessions which are more conversational and will offer you perspective, insight, and actionable steps for you to implement day to day. I also offer tarot and oracle card readings.
I’m a person who has healed a lot of my own trauma and I know it’s not an easy path, but you can trust that I’m not afraid to go deep into the heart of the matter to bring forth lasting healing. I will never BS you either. When you work with me, you’ll have an honest friend and confidant, a vast well of empathy and kindness, and a safe place to land.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
This is a pretty loaded question. It seems like I had to unlearn the entirety of my childhood and upbringing. The short and sweet version is, like so many of us living at this time, I’ve had to be the cycle breaker for generational trauma. I was raised by a family who had to endure many generations of hardship, abuse, and neglect. These traumas I inherited informed my inner monologue and self-talk for most of my life. At many times I’ve been filled with doubt, low self-worth, despair, and rage. It’s not easy to overcome, especially within a broken system, and I consider myself a constant work in progress. But above any other lesson, the most important one is that the work is worth doing, and I am worth doing the work for.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Word of mouth is by far the most effective strategy. I don’t have disposable capital for advertising, so I’ve had to learn to ask for clients, testimonials, and referrals. Asking for what you need is the key. Word of mouth is effective because I’m good at what I do and I absolutely love it, and it shows when I work with clients so they want to share their experiences with others who might be interested.
