We were lucky to catch up with DeCoide Brewer recently and have shared our conversation below.
DeCoide, appreciate you joining us today. Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?
The “He Said She Said Podcast” came from the natural chemistry with my sister Nina-Marie and some of our horrible dating experiences. I always had the desire to start my own podcast and host it with a cohost. I had no idea that cohost would be my sister Nina-Marie. We would spend hours on the phone and the conversation would always end with “Dang I wish I could have recorded it. We just knew people needed to hear what we had to say!!” Years had passed and I reached my final breaking point after relationships after the next. It was a break up I knew I should’ve never been in and I just felt lead to share my story as a relationship coach.
DeCoide, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Decoide , first a man of God. I love helping people walk in Purpose and purposefully relationships. Currently have 4 clients who have shared that the connection to me and the service I have provided has positioned them into greater expectations when it came to dating. One client has found the love of her life and just birth a beautiful baby boy.
Photography kind of came unexpectedly, I was invited to The Best Church; Excel Church World Wide!!! (My church now) shooting a few services lead me to a divine connection and purpose in photography!…..Photography was never a desire! Didn’t even think I had an eye for it! Like I said before, I was literally invited out by a good friend Candace-Nicole to volunteer at her church because I already had the camera due to the recording of the podcast. (Crazy how God works)Doing it and posting the pictures just opened up so many more opportunities to show my work!! I’m now the full time photographer at the church and doing photography on the side!!

….. podcasting came form a desire to want my own show. I just needed the right connection!! Never realized how my sis and I had it all along!!! Our conversations would last ours on the phone and we would always end it with well I wish I could have recorded it, because people NEED to hear what we had to say!! After a few years the final straw was a break up I knew I should’ve never been in… and I just felt the story needed to be told!!
Photography was never a desire! Didn’t even think I had an eye for it! Like air said before, I was literally just doing a friend a favor at her church because I already had the camera for the recording of the podcast. (Crazy how God works)

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Mannnnn… 1. Just how important and impactful “just doing it” goes!! Everything I’m doing now is off a “just do it” mentality!! That CRAZY FAITH!!
I also think the connections that you have, those around and the word of mouth can place you in rooms that not even the right amount of money could place you in. Another resource is praying!! And actually applying action to that prayer!!! I remember years ago ask God DAILY for Him to send someone and to just let them give me an opportunity!!! He did!! In Pastor K.Francis Smith!! One of the most dynamic leaders I know!! But if I had never took the time to listen… took him up on that lunch , I would have missed that!! I think as believers we miss that prayer isn’t just call and respond, it call and obey!!!
Have you ever had to pivot?
Wow!! There are a few!! I am also a Certified Life and Relationship coach. It was definitely something I know God had called me to do, but in the process things just weren’t breaking, let’s just say the way DeCoide saw fit! … The pivot wasn’t one of those bad ones, but a TRUST ME one! I went though an public breakup that had been publicized on social media… you know the ones with the cute we in love pics… but as a relationship consultant/coach it wasn’t making the business look good when it ultimately came to an end. That pivot aligned me into the podcast, that pushes out transparency about the breakup and that end drawing more clients to the business! So pivots are good… as long as you trust God!!
