Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Deborah Griffiths. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Deborah, appreciate you joining us today. Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later
Ever since I can remember, I’ve dreamed of owning my own business. I grew up watching my parents run their painting contracting company—my dad handled estimating and supervising the crew, while my mom managed the books, payroll, and typed up proposals and contracts. I admired the freedom entrepreneurship gave them: the ability to plan last-minute vacations, make their own decisions, and never have to answer to a “boss.”
Life, however, took me on a different path. I got married, had children, and spent several years as a stay-at-home mom. Then came my divorce, and everything changed. Suddenly, I was thrust into the workforce, learning new administrative skills on the fly. Without a college degree—I had married before graduating—my focus was simply on earning enough money to support my children and myself.
As I worked my way up the corporate ladder in the homeowners association (HOA) industry, I discovered a program that would allow me to earn my bachelor’s degree in less than two years by attending classes on Monday nights. I seized the opportunity and eventually graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership. Walking across that stage to receive my diploma was one of the proudest moments of my life. I hoped it would open the door to entrepreneurship—but that dream remained on hold a little longer.
For more than two decades, I built a successful career in the HOA industry. I managed a variety of communities, supervised other managers, and eventually joined a firm specializing in training and certifying community managers across California. Yet through it all, the dream of owning my own business never left me.
About two and a half years ago, I decided to write my story—one marked by gaslighting and domestic abuse. When my book became a bestseller, I realized that sharing my journey could help others. That’s when I launched Broken to Boldness LLC. Through my company, readers can access my books, including those I’ve collaborated on, but more importantly, I now use my experience to serve as a life-transition coach. Too many women face divorce, abuse, trauma, job loss, and other life-altering changes without knowing where to turn for help—or even that help exists. That’s where I come in.
Starting a business later in life might not have been the path I envisioned, but in hindsight, it’s exactly the right time. My decades of experience, both professional and personal, allow me to guide others through their own transitions. And if my journey proves anything, it’s this: it’s never too late to follow your dreams.

Deborah, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m a life transition and empowerment coach, bestselling author, and founder of Broken to Boldness, a movement dedicated to helping women rise, rebuild, and reclaim their lives after major life changes — especially divorce, trauma, or seasons of feeling “stuck.” My journey into this work was deeply personal. After experiencing my own painful divorce and the identity crisis that followed, I discovered that healing isn’t just about surviving — it’s about rewriting your story and building a life that truly reflects who you are and what you’re capable of.
With over 30 years of leadership experience managing multimillion-dollar projects and guiding organizations, I now bring that same strategic mindset to coaching women through some of the biggest transitions of their lives. Through my signature Living BOLD Method™ (Break Through It, Own It, Lock It In, Do It), I provide transformative coaching programs, workshops, and tools designed to help clients break free from limiting beliefs, clarify their purpose, and build thriving, purpose-driven lives from their stories.
What sets my work apart is the combination of practical strategy and deep emotional transformation. I don’t just help women “feel better” — I help them create a blueprint for their next chapter, whether that means writing their story, launching a business, or stepping into a new season of confidence and freedom. My programs are results-driven and deeply personal, guiding clients from pain to purpose and from surviving to soaring.
I’m most proud of the countless women who have gone from silenced to self-assured, from doubting their worth to living lives they once thought were out of reach. More than anything, I want people to know that you are not broken — you are simply bent. And with the right support, you can rise stronger, bolder, and more unstoppable than ever.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Building my audience on social media wasn’t something that happened overnight — it was a gradual, intentional process rooted in authenticity and consistency. When I first started sharing online, I didn’t focus on “going viral” or chasing trends. Instead, I focused on sharing real stories — my journey through divorce, healing, and personal transformation — and creating content that spoke directly to the challenges my audience was facing.
I made it a point to show up regularly, even when I felt like no one was watching. I shared tips, reflections, and personal insights that offered value, not just promotion. Over time, that consistency built trust. People began to resonate with the message, engage with my content, and share it with others — and that’s how the audience grew organically.
My biggest piece of advice for anyone just starting out: be real and be patient. Social media is about connection, not perfection. Speak directly to the people you want to help, solve their problems, and let them see the real you — flaws, lessons, and all. Consistency, storytelling, and authenticity are far more powerful than any algorithm hack. And remember, you’re not trying to attract everyone — you’re trying to connect deeply with your people.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I believe what helped me build my reputation in this industry is a combination of authenticity, consistency, and genuine service. From the very beginning, I made it a priority to show up as my true self — sharing not just my successes, but also the challenges I’ve faced and the lessons I’ve learned along the way. That transparency helped people connect with me on a deeper level and trust that I understand what they’re going through.
Consistency has also been key. I show up regularly — whether through my coaching programs, workshops, podcast, or social media — always delivering value and actionable insights that people can immediately apply to their own lives. Over time, that reliability built credibility.
And finally, I lead with service. My focus has always been on transformation — helping women move from pain to purpose, share their stories, and create lives they’re excited to live. When people feel seen, supported, and empowered by your work, they naturally become advocates for your brand. That’s how my reputation grew — not through flashy marketing, but through real results and meaningful relationships.
