Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Deborah Altizio. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Deborah thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you have an agent or someone (or a team) that helps you secure opportunities and compensation for your creative work? How did you meet you, why did you decide to work with them, why do you think they decided to work with you?
Yes I have an agent Mark Parker From Creative Management. Marc reached out to me approximately a year for the pandemic..Finally! Someone who was able to see my talent!
I really got tired of knocking on doors and trying to sell myself to agents unworthy of seeing my abilities!
When marc reached out to me, I thought to myself this is the way it’s supposed to be an agent pursuing me!
I think Mark reached out to me because he saw my work and thought to himself I was someone he wanted to represent.
After talking with him on the phone we realized this could be something good!
Libra & Gemini always a good work combination! He saw I was dedicated, passionate about my work, great with people, and I have great work ethics! It was a win-win situation!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a child artist! I was born coloring my world on anything I could find!
I was not doing numbers like my savant my nephew. I was much the opposite. Already born into a world of color.! Crayons colored pencils, chalk anything I can get my hands on!
It was easy for me to transfer that into painting faces. I did have Shoe train with some of the best Makeupartist in the world. This was not an easy task to get on the makeup team and have them trust you. As it’s an artists dream to be mentored by famous artists.
I did run into some problems as a young artist because I was given large opportunities that I was not ready for. I had to go back and watch and learn more! Information and education is power!

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of my career is that I feel I am getting paid to do something. I absolutely love. I have been doing this for 30 plus years! Meeting and working with new people is such an amazing experience. You put so much work into becoming the artist that you want to be. You don’t see it happening but when you don’t give up eventually, it becomes a reality. I was focused and driven and I knew there was nothing else that I wanted to do as a career. Yes I could have my own make up line, yes, I probably could also have my own agency and I make up school.! I choose to sprinkle my magic of making people look and feel beautiful. This is what I love to do. Each face is a new canvas for me and I am always learning to this day with every Makeup I do. The most rewarding aspect of my career is painting a face and signing my signature on it! It might not be a Picasso, but it is a work of art through the 30+ years of experience in the Makeup industry.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I do remember at the very forefront of my career. I was asked to do an agents make up at a fashion show. There were two awful artists that criticize my work. They made the agent think I did not do a good job. They sabotaged me Because they were jealous. I knew I did a beautiful job. They made me feel terrible about myself yes, but that did not stop me! I kept spreading love to counteract their hate. Until this day, I will always support another artist And their journey..
