Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to DeBlair Tate. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
DeBlair, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Growing up in Winona, MS, a town infamous for the arrest and beating of Civil Rights Activist Fannie Lou Hamer, I had no concept of racism or segregation. To me, this was simply everyday life in a small town in Mississippi. It wouldn’t be until I managed to leave the normalcy of my city to realize the life I recognized as “normal” life for all people was, in actuality, very different.
I felt it was important to share my story because a major part of the way I coach and motivate others is by asking their “why” —But no one ever knew mine.
I hope that people who are fighting battles, both mentally and physically, find inspiration in knowing that they don’t have to fight alone and can conquer whatever presents itself as an obstacle.
Every decision we make dictates our future- whether it’s the toxic relationships we decide to keep, the foods we decide to eat or even the disrespect we allow ourselves to tolerate.
in addition, a lot of us are just winging life- with no real intention or purpose. just going through the motion. Either because we don’t know any better or just because we think we have it figured out. Do you ever wonder why people look back at life at a certain point and have nothing but regret because they allowed themselves to sit in something way longer than they should have or did not decide to make that decision to take care of themselves sooner?
Life is definitely a B but I made it mine!! I understand the struggle because this was once me and that’s the reason behind my mission- for those I encounter to reach a place of wholeness—mind, body, and soul. My passion centers on helping others break through barriers and fully realizing their ability to live happy, healthy, and successful lives.

DeBlair, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

What problems I solve for my clients– I help professionals, leaders, and entrepreneurs redefine success, recommit to themselves, & reactivate their personal goals.
What sets me apart from others is hands down my mindset, loyalty, and resiliency. I look at things from different lenses and this allows me to make sound decisions. Your mindset dictates your every move. It’s the difference between trying and learning or being too afraid to try at all. When you think about changing your life, know that it will come down to elevating your thinking. What you once saw as your failures will be perceived as opportunities. That’s what my book, Resilient As F*ck will teach you how to do – change your mind and change your life. It would have been so much easier for me to choose a life of destruction and negativity. It was more difficult to choose a path of resilience, but I chose it anyway.
I am most proud of the strength in my voice. For a long time, I allowed myself to be silenced for multiple reasons. My voice is now my temple and the gateway to assisting others. If you would have told me 5 years ago that I would be a published author, I wouldn’t have believed you!! I never would have imagined this would be my path but I’m so grateful that I’m able to walk in my purpose and use my experiences to help other people grow. I don’t take the role lightly.
My journey has been tumultuous but I’ve gone through the experiences and now I can be a vessel for others! I came out on the other side Resilient As F*ck.
I am also proud of the fact that I put together a 3-day women’s empowerment conference titled after my book, Reslielent AF, How to Fight For What You Deserve. It was over a year ago when I started saying I was going to do a conference. Had no idea where to start or even if people would show up but I just knew I was going to make it happen!! I’m still in awe with all of this because I made it happen but it has now created a whole new monster!! There’s so much up my sleeve right now!!
I’m going to create the life I want and that consists of doing what I can to help others! That’s my agenda!
I would have never imagined as a little bad a$$ kid from a small town in Mississippi that I could be and do whatever I wanted in life. I am determined to create MY Lane!! I can’t worry about who I used to be—- that will destroy me. I use it as a testimony- leverage to keep going!! I’m excited about the future!
What I want people to know about me is that it took everything out of me to share my story and become vulnerable to the world. I have always been very private, but even more, writing my book was a lot. It opened up wounds that I wasn’t quite ready to feel. Needless to say, it has shaped me into the person I have become today.
Everything I do now is for the betterment of myself to help someone else. You reap the benefits of what you sow and I work hard to live the life I want to live.
Being from a small town in Mississippi, I have worked twice as hard to get just as far as the next person. I pick myself up by the bootstraps and work my butt off every day to build the life I know I deserve.
My biggest fear is not doing what I’m called to do while I have the opportunity to do so. So I had to stop waiting and start doing.
When you start changing how you think, you’ll start changing what you see. We cannot become what we want by remaining what we are. Growth is a gradual process that does not happen overnight. It takes many mistakes and failures and I experienced them all many times.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
My consistency. Nobody really cares if you’re good- they care that you are consistent and genuinely care about what’s important to them.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
My health is a huge factor that illustrates my resilience. For a long time, I was reluctant to share the battles I was facing. I never wanted anyone to treat me differently or feel sorry for me. There were days that I was struggling and hurting but needed to show up for my clients. I never skipped a beat but realized the hard way that it would only be a matter of time until my body showed me who was in charge, I was not walking my walk- even though it looked that way from my lense. I stayed silent for so long that no one on the outside ever knew any of the internal struggles I was experiencing.
